ABS light not coming on... MOT fail!

IIRC these are set up so that there is +12V to the bulb and it earths via the ABS ECU. When ABS is OK ECU interrupts the earth path (or sticks +12V up it) and the light goes out - thus the light should come on if you remove the ABS fuse, as it is fed from a separate supply. First look here has got to be the bulb, then check that there is 12V to the bulb, then start tracing the earth route via the ABS ECU plug.

Have you checked the fuses?

Sounds as though it might well be the favourite source of ABS problems - grotty contacts in the ABS ECU plug and socket (or even just a loose plug!).

Don't go sticking test probes in the ECU socket, you can 'kill' the ECU.

wire the bulb to another light on the dash ie oil light or air bag light then it will come on and go off.

Well I still don't have a clue why the light wouldn't come on etc so have taken a temporary measure of bodging it to pass MOT today [-X
