The S1 V6 will have a passenger airbag Simon.

And.. If you really like the S2 styling the complete S2 front end will fit an S1 so you could make it look like an S2!!!

Others have done the opposite and fitted a complete S1 front to an S2!

Actually, mine is the same age, well at least R rev and more a 1 1/2 then are some bits that are brought through like the cabling for the heated seats for instance, it could well be there are other things too, but I haven't been bothered looking.

I suspect that by the time Simon get this car home, we will know most of its foibles, I'm hoping there aren't to many, preferably none at all.

Seriously though, I hope it doesn't give any trouble on the way back...

I still remember driving my Dad's Xantia back home 100 miles from where we bought it with completely punctured rear suspension spheres, (talk about bouncy!) and even the silver problem child was first driven 30 miles home with almost punctured rear spheres.

Let's hope the "regular maintenance" has included timely sphere changes...

I was thinking back about the 1997 VSX 2 litre petrol Auto Series 1 I owned in New Zealand, and came across the photos I took of it when I was selling it in 2009 and thought I'd share them as I'm not sure if I ever posted them.

At the time I sold it it was 12 years old and had done 113k miles and apart from a couple of scratches near the front left headlight that someone had kindly added for me with their keys it was still pretty much spotless. It did about 30k miles in the four years I had it.

Dark blue, no keypad immobiliser or alarm, no passenger air bag, and the electric seats are cloth velour rather than leather, and obviously not a V6 but otherwise very similar indeed to what I'm now buying:


















Although I did struggle a bit trying to solve the infamous air bubbles in the suspension issue with it, (which caused intermittent ride harshness) it was otherwise an exceptionally reliable car which barely set a foot wrong and never let me down. The auto box never gave a moments trouble, nor did the engine, which had a couple of oil changes, filter, air filter, timing belt and nothing else!

Great car, I was very sad to have to leave it behind when I moved...

Change of plans Jim - tomorrows MOT has been cancelled.

After trying to arrange insurance for the new car today I found I simply can't feasibly switch to a multi-car plan in our current circumstances, so I took the decision to transfer the current policy to the new car as of tomorrow and get temporary insurance for the old one which only lasts until the 19th of August. The same day the MOT runs out co-incidentally!

So it is back up for sale as a parts car here:

I booked the MOT before I won the new one on ebay, taking it for an MOT now would just be pouring money down the drain when insurance will force me to move it on even if it did pass...

I've now thrown all my chips in with the new car so I'm crossing my fingers and toes that it will be an easy MOT!

Simon, I'll give it a quick pre-MOT on Wednesday. I'm tougher than an MOT tester and can check all bar emissions... I can check the oxygen sensor though...

If there's any simple thing wrong I'll fix it for you...

I owe the people on this forum so much that it's starting to get embarrassing....

Even if you're just able to advise me on anything that might need doing before the MOT that's a big weight off my mind, especially now I've pulled the trigger on disposing of the old car so quickly...
