Hmm, in that case, bring Richard for a run down here in your car and we can go roundabout hunting down here then :D

I'd love to Jim but it's not me collecting it! Trainman will be picking it up and bringing it back to his near Preston Wednesday next week, I'll catch a train down to Preston on the Thursday and drive it back the rest of the way home. (And stop to chat and ogle his C6 hopefully :-D )

We will meet one day though Jim, some how - perhaps at the next northern'ish Citroen meet - ever since I started having all the problems with this one I've been too afraid to drive long distances from home should the gearbox in particular throw it's toys out of the pram and strand me hundreds of miles from home with a terminal fault... :( The car has never even driven into England during my ownership, let alone down your way...

A real pity - what's the point of having a car (and a V6 cruiser for that matter) if you're afraid to drive it too far from home... assuming this car is a goodun' gearbox and engine in particular, once I've had it a couple of months and been over it with a fine tooth comb and attended to any mechanical issues I will be emboldened to drive it much further from home and hopefully to one of the Citroen meets.... :)

PS I've just ordered this mirror glass, hopefully its the right one!

Starter motor relay mod and cabin blower fan relay mod (since its a S1) are on my todo list as well...

Simon, I'm happy to come back via Jim's so he can have a nosy, if that's ok with you? Plus the thought of being fed and watered by a living legend at breadmaking (licks lips)...... well you get the idea.

I'm going down by train on the 23rd and then driving back. But I'm in no rush as I'm off on the Thursday and SWMBO is out both days I can pretty much do as I please.

Steve, by all means swing by Jim's on the way home if you wish. :)

I'd be interested to see what Jim thinks of the car and I'm sure the stop would be a nice break in the journey! (Assuming Jim is home that day of course...)

That'll be perfect as I'm not working next week so will be home for the greater part of the week. Excellent :-D

Home-made food of all kinds will be on offer

As Hannibal from the A-Team said every episode, "I love it when a plan comes together". :-D

I'm feeling quite excited at the prospect of a fresh start, even though I'm sure it will need a number of jobs doing...

You should do, and as you've already said you a couple of things in hand to start with. Actually I've been thinking, what are you going to call your NEW blog?

Indeed, a plan that comes together nicely is a real delight and this one certainly is. Shame I won't see you on this occasion Simon but I’m sure one day we'll meet up. At least I'll have seen the car!

A new car always needs a few bits doing initially Simon but at least it'll all be to the good and no doubt a lot of the good bits from the problem child will be transferable to the new one or at least held as spares.

I'm going to be really interested to see how you rate the S1 against the S2 you know so well.

"Simon's New V6 - It's all come together nicely!"

And that gentlemen is my prediction on how it will be :-D

Well having owned a S1 VSX and a S2 Exclusive, I do have to confess I prefer a S2...

I like the RF remote over the infrared, the digital trip counter, the auto wipers, passenger air bag, the lack of keypad immobiliser (although my S1 VSX didn't have an immobiliser or alarm) and the more aggressive S2 nose styling and the rear spoiler...

But I like the S1 as well (after all I had one for 4 years) and I'm sure I'll soon get used to it again - assuming it runs and drives well I'm sure I'll quickly forget about the small differences.. :-D
