Xantia V6 broken exhaust (update: and rough low rpm running)

I can't remember now if Mike's does have it Simon. I shoukld know... I'm sure Mike will soon tell us...

It did as far as I recall but I think it might all be irrelevant now as I'm told it's erm, gone. The guy who won the eBay auction, but then never turned up weeks ago (rushed to hospital with blood poisoning from a cut from another old Cit) suddenly rang Mrs. N_M couple days ago after he'd paid (by Paypal!) and said a truck was on its way to collect it. Which it was. She couldn't get hold of me as I was in the wilds of the Andes so I'm afraid it's gone Simon, I'm both sorry and relieved..

Sorry Simon.. neither did I. As I'd had no contact from him for some time, I presumed, as usually happens on eBay, he'd lost interest. He wanted to pay with PayPal and I said no, then I didn't hear from him again. I forgot about it and sent an NPB complaint to eBay to get my fees back, next thing I know he's paid and it's gone :O

I do think you're better off without it to be honest !

To be fair, Mrs NM did apparently try and contact me but I was being scared on a coach in the mountains.
I think it's a blessing too. I know it was going to need more pipework for the next MOT for a start.. and that's the stuff we knew about.

Looks nice, elderly owners often keep them in garages and don't drive much in winter.

Looks okay. Probably blind as a bat like my step mum. Their Honda Jazz looks about 40 years old, it's battered and bruised but mechanically top notch.

Simon could learn some bodywork skills instead of buggering about with the mechanicals...

Too far away, and I'm not interested in doing major body panel and paint repairs - either myself (can't do them anyway even if I wanted to) or paying someone to do them...

So this one is a pass unfortunately... I'm sure it would make someone who likes panel repairs a good little project though...

The question you should be asking is; 'Barring the panels and paintwork, is this in better nick than my current V6 Xantia?' If the information is correct, then the answer is almost certainly 'Yes'. The gearbox is only about 40% to the danger point (and you know how to deal with THAT) , the engine is one you know well, and the distance is less than 500 miles (less than 1/20 of that to New Zealand!).

Bodywork wise that one is scruffy but that can be sorted. I know a great guy down here who does fantastic work at sensible prices.

Mechanically you'll not get a better one then that with only 65k on it.

With a cheap flight/train ticket you can be there easily enough and there's not many places that are further from home then one tank of fuel when being steady in a V6 Xantia.
