Most creepy crawlies I have no problem with at all but show me a wasp and I'll run...
I'm no fan of wasps but I just kill them. Don't take any crap from them. It's the dark spookiness and the fluttering of moths I can't stand. I'm not keen on bats for the same reason.

That moth is lovely, really pretty colour and wingshape, while we are on the subject of strange bugs does anyone know what this is?

Its over an 1 1/4" long easily, thought it was a horse fly untill i got closer to it, was a bloody quick flyer too, definatly built for speed over comfort.

That's a hornet by the looks of it Dean. Very nasty  A wasp on steroids and with an even bigger sting in its tail

I kill wasps too Mike, despite my fear I kill every wasp I see. It's the only wildlife I'll happily kill. Everything else with me gets a second chance.

Odd this. I absolutely love spiders even though one once put me in hospital...

You bad boys killing wasps, leave them alone and they will leave you alone, one of the best things about wasps is that they eat flies which along with mosquitoes deserves to be killed for all the diseases they transmit. I've had several wasp nests in the roof of my house, never been a problem.

Ive worked in an attic next to a nest of epic proportions, about 6ft wide, and they leave you alone, you get the odd inquisitive wasp but they are actualy not as agressive as they are made out to be.

Well, that may be the case. But the trouble is when they DO get agressive, they can swarm and even kill (in extreme cases). Even one single wasp, once its got pissed off and stings you, the bugger can keep stinging you again and again, does not give up and even if you run it'll chase you.

I have to admit, might sound girly or wimpish, but it is the spiders I can not stand. Absolutely hate the feckers - they always surpise you/make you jump. Last year I was sat on the settee late one night, on my laptop, when suddenly a massive black spider ran from somewhere near my shoulder right shoulder, across the settee - diddn't half make me jump.

You're in a great majority there Ashy. I know of nobody that likes them as I do...

Once there lived a real bruiser of a bloke near me. Real brick out-house sort of bloke. One day I was ambling past his house and he ran out in absolute terror. 'Jim, Jim! Can you help me? he wailed. I went in his house to see a massive spider on his living room wall and that was the source of his abject terror. He was almost in tears.

I causally cupped the offending spider in my hand and walked out of the house with it in my hand.

The mixture of relief and amazement on his face was priceless
