It's one of my favourite sayings for describing something that is all flash and posh on the surface but has nothing of substance underneath...

I've known of it ever since I was little but until I looked it up, never knew of its proper definition...

Hello, Friends!!

Oh, Myglaren, you DID make Daddy laugh! :rofl2: Important that because today did not go as he planned.

I am now up at the front to replace my RH track rod end, outer CV joint and rewire the brake sensors. He was happy to discover that the CV boot merely needed its Jubilee Clip repositioning and tightening. He needed a LOT of heat to shift my track rod end (oh, I HAVE been neglected) but the new one is now on, embalmed in copper grease. The Jubilee Clip has been sorted and this is where it went downhill. He used a knife to get at my sensor wires and, predictably, the knife slipped and sliced his thumb.

I heard him hit the high notes twice :mecker: :argue: :argue: :-D . Once when he used sanitizer on his hand then again when he used the Styptic Pencil to stop the bleeding. His thumb is now bandaged and he decided to Retire Hurt.

He's reading my Haynes Manual to learn about my airbags and seat belt pre tensioners. :-D Should be interesting.....

Love

Hello, Friends!

Today Papa shone his bright, powerful torch into my wheel arch and said "Lovely!!" when he saw the spring clips that secure my steering rack bellows. Having read the advice, I am now bracing myself for more violence. Still, eyes on the prize, eh? That ticket to ride......

He also swept the horrid snow off me to make his working environment more pleasant when he gets busy on Sunday. Temperatures will be above his age* (in Fahrenheit) so he'll be able to get on with freeing off the inner track rod, rewiring my powerful brakes and bleeding them.

Love

Otterchops.

Hello, friends.

Papa has been busy! He charged my powerful battery overnight and then started me up today. Cue BIG cloud of black smoke [-X . He then looked at my big, powerful, economical engine rumbling away powerfully and he had a Good Idea. He better be careful. It was in a strange place!! He decided to clean my old belts because he has realised that the pre tensioners are an important safety feature. He marinaded my offside belt in a strong solution of laundry detergent with a squirt of washing up liquid for an hour or so. Then he wiped the belt with a microfibre cloth which seems to have done the trick. The belt did retract but he clamped it open to dry properly.

I'm much happier with my proper belts. I do not like my safety features being disconnected. My previous Bodgers threatened that. I don't WANT to,throw Wobblies but I will!!! [-X

It is nice to be sat on my stylish alloy wheels again rather than up on ramps. When he took me down, I got my point across when I sat on his bottle jack!!! :lolhit: :wave1:

He needs to,be shown who is boss sometimes.....

Love

Hello, all.

Papa here.

Well, new rear brakes fitted, all darker fluid bled from, the brakes and no air bubbles. Thing is, the pedal is,still soft and low.

Could this be slider pins? Or summat more sinister?

Hello, Friends!!!

Well, Papa has figured out why my brakes are spongy and he has made 2 real goombah moves.

Goombah 1: he did not plug my brake pipes when he removed my back calipers so I have air in my ABS module.

Goombah 2: he bled my brakes in the wrong order. He did back brakes 1st then front.

And all this without Lexia :rofl2: =D> 8-) :gt: :lolhit:

Told you he was a Twit!!!

However, he has soaked my belts in a mixture of,laundry detergent and washing up liquid, scrubbing them, with some kitchen cleaner. They have never worked so well for years!! Now,he can unsnap the buckle and my belt retracts properly.

He had to soak my driver's belt again so waiting for it to dry now.

So,will I have a Lexia session tomorrow?

Wait and see, eh? I do hope so.

This making big clouds of smoke in my drive is all very well but I long to be able to scamper off into, the distance, cosseting my people (and Hounds!) in luxury.

Love to all.
