I had to undo the anti roll bar at both ends to get the job done. I probably could have avoided this by jacking up both sides but I had only jacked up the one side.

i see why you had problems, but your a braver man than me to disconnect the other side of the anti roll bar, with the weight of the car on that side wheel,

even just doing the arm on one side i would have the hole rear end up on stands, this takes the load fully off the anti roll bar, then it should not put up a fight,
