I don't suppose you drive like me Andy or in the same location. I bought a 2.0 hdi a couple of weeks ago and did over 60 mpg bringing it home but my driving would probably bore you to tears, I can just about get 50 mpg on the same route in the 2.2 but my driving is mostly rural, I rarely venture into towns.

I have cleaned the MAF and EGR but have not taken on a decent run since as I bought the 2.0, I think I will put it back on the road for a couple of days so I can give it a good test. Its actually in much better mechanical condition than the 2.0 but that looks better.

How did you clean the egr did you remove something or just use a cleaner?

If you did remove the egr was there much crap in the pipes?

I am still getting 31mpg average out of my 2.2 HDi Auto, and 37mpg on a long run.

It's not what I associate with diesel economy! (having had 8 diesels prior to this, none of which even dropped below 40mpg).... but I just put it down to it being a heavy car and an automatic.

I used a can of that EGR cleaner from ebay, seems to work, plenty of smoke from the exhaust. I am going to briefly insure the car so I can give it a good test and see if it has made any difference.

I have tried the Wynns I was not sure if you had actually removed the egr pipe.

The best stuff I have used is Forte diesel fuel treatment that made a great difference.

You just squirt it into the inlet manifold in measured doses - so that it doesn't stop ot run away!
