This post is NSFW

While we're on confessions...I also drive my parents car which is one of these in 1.6ltr form -

Image

It's a solid A to B car with no character, the pillars are a little too big and solid though so it feel like you're driving a van. The boot is nice and long being an Estate but it's surprising how much wider the boot is in the XM.

My first car was a 3 pot Corsa B 0-60 in 17-18 seconds IIRC. When I first drove the Xantia it felt like an F1 car! The steering column in the Corsa used to keep catching my toes when I was steering and pulling away, oh and it didn't like hills which isn't good around here

Kev, sorry, I don't normally moderate against spelling errors but you do have a bad spelling error in the above sentence...

It should read 'It's a stolid A to B car...'

I'm sure this is the word you intended. I'd check your 'T' key is working... You may need a new keyboard

That's a bit like saying Van Gough was a good painter or Beethoven was a good composer...

The 205 and the 405 were the most brilliant cars Peugeot ever made. Possibly the most brilliant cars ever. Everything since has been on the downhill slope.

They still take my breath away...

I will own boh one day, hey're cars I really would like o experience living wih.

his has go o be one of my favourie advers!

When you walk into our local Peugeot specialist (an ex Pug main dealer) you really are walking into the late 80s. Nothing has changed since then apart from the members of staff getting older, bar one new mechanic all the staff have been there at least 25+ years. All the jobs for the week are logged on a board on the wall, there's loads of paper catalogues and notepads and not a computer to be seen though I imagine there must be one tucked away somewhere. The design is fascinating too, all of the worktops are blue, there's a blue strip running across the side of the front desk, all of the door surrounds are painted blue, carpet is blue. I could go on. It really is a time warp, quite a sleepy garage too but they have an excellent reputation.

That's still one of the greatest adverts ever Kev 8-) Advertising one of the greatest cars ever...

My first 405, a 1988 (an early one) GRD, was identical to the one in the advert. I never found any scorch marks on it though...

I'd love an early 405. I have the instrument cluster out of one (don't ask why), but that's as far as I've got with that so far.

Vauxhall related confessions - can't wait to own one of these

You're joking Chris! It's bloody hideous  Best looking (term used in it's loosest sense) Corsa was the original one, the one that replaced the worst car on the planet - the Nova. All since have got worse...

This one has the 3 cylinder petrol agricultural special...

... she's planning to replace it with a Citroën C1....
Well its not the best looking car in the world and they are getting a pretty awful reliability reputation too. It would not be my choice!

Oh good, the worst engine of the lot, it'll sound like a 2 cylinder engine lubricated by sand before long. They are by far the most rough sounding modern petrol engine.

You'll like her for getting a C1 Jim, it just wont go wrong! So simple

Ah yes that's it Dean, I was just winding you all up. My Mum drives to Morrisons in a Lotus Carlton. In fact my Dad stuck a tall garden gate in the back of it the other day and got the boot covered in flaky rust and mud

A friend has an Agila with this motor in it. I thought it actually sounded like half a Porsche 911 when thrashed to within an inch of it's life.
