Dealer has not had any news. Tried ringing Citroen as I don't want another three week wait for an appointment and I imagine dealer wants to know, but correct person was not contactable so customer service were going to email someone.

Field tech cannot fix the car either. Has downloaded something and sent it to France.

This whole saga is a farce, and a total discredit to Citroen, and to all those responsible for piling technology into modern cars. I include here the designers, makers/manufacturers, and the white elephant which lives in Brussels (commonly called the EU). Technology has been imposed upon us, which does of course give great benefits ............. when it works.

Mooseshaver, you must be very disgruntled, but at least the problems didn't start during your ownership when out of warranty. I'd be summarising the sequence of events, and sending it off to HonestJohn at the Daily Telegraph. Publicity might make someone sit up and take note.

Do you think they might be interested in swapping it as is for a S1 2.2 Exclusive that does work ? :-) feel sure I could sort it.

I feel Citroen have washed their hands of it. It is five years old, but to make a car that cannot be repaired after five years is rather poor.

Anyone know how a Chrysler 300c compares to a c5 in terms of comfort? Can't find one to try that my wife can travel to.

I suspect it is a question more of "can't justify the expense of fixing it" rather than can't fix.
Like I said I reckon I could fix it but with a mental estimate of probable time and materials my cost could well be circa £1000.00, for Citroen allowing for "free parts" but overhead on labour etc, this price could well be double.
Bear in mind also that for them the car is beyond end of life and they may well have trouble finding any factory support engineer that knows the car well enough to be really expert.
No they will not see any moral or contractual obligation to fix it, those obligations were to the first owner, and it it is not as though they can see any worthwhile repeat orders on the back of fixing this one, so really why should they bother, the fact that there is some suspicion that the problem has been caused by someone adding in an unapproved "black box" won't help either.

I think the dealer said they had spent 30 hours on it. Then another 6 from the field tech. And they have downloaded something to send to France for their input.
I had hoped it would be the black box but apparently not.

Now I do question that dealers skills based on previous experience of them, and I would not have taken the car there myself. But you would hope that any fault could be fixed by the manufacturer supported dealer, or it's field tech. I don't think it was an issue if payment as the garage I bought it from told them so, he just wanted it fixed.

You would have liked the the car though. I can't fix my own cars so am scared of trying another.
