Mine is doing this too. What can be done about it?
Apparently if you pull it out and give it a good clean with a sponge and some water it can cure it, so I hear. Ill give it a go :)

HDi
Aux heater not working
HRW not working
Sodding side airbag light is back on
Will need a new tyre soon.
Other than that, uses no oil and water.
not bad for 202k

Activa
Bodywork mainly.
clutch is just starting to go
Otherwise she's A-OK. (not bad for an activa)

XM
ABS needs sorting, I suspect that although the xantia MK20 Teves sensors are electrically correct they arent quite long enough to get a reading from the rings. a proper drive and a fault clear will tell.
Strut tops, nuff said on that
front bumper(s) need reattaching, need to fabricate a plate as the oem one has rusted away,
there is also a battery drain as well, have traced it to a relay staying open, might just be a sticky relay or an issue to do with the LPG as it's the same source as the injector power.
oh and i'll need to pluck up the courage to take it for an MOT at the end of it :O

So amusingly the activa is (and has been for a while now) the most reliable and complete car i have.

The ABS is now not working on the XM after some funny behaviour. I wonder if the ECU is dodgy.

That is because its a C5

To befair to the Frenchies, a lot of the posts in here are for wear and tear items, tyres, brakes etc. Can't really be classed as a fault.

Another one I've remembered about mine. The petrol gauge goes down when you're running on gas. It's almost as if it doesn't believe there is no petrol being used. If you park on the wrong side of the road (car leaning to the right) or add some petrol the gauge reverts to the right level.

I had an odd fault with my last C5, sometimes the fuel gauge would lie ...

I know for a fact that it was about empty as it had been full and had covered 760 or so miles with the needle on the gauge just nearly at the red light point. Next time I got in the car the fuel gauge said I had almost half a tank and 250 miles remaining on the trip computer. I knew this wasn't the case but drove it for a few days to see if it would correct. It didn't, Ive never had to put so much fuel in a C5 to fill it up since that, it must have been on the brink of running dry. It did it a few more times too. Mind, that car was by far the most quirky C5 of the 5 we have had, I don't miss it

Quirkiness is exactly why I love French cars. You never know what's coming next, whether it be a rogue tyre pressure warning, an unwelcome random limp-home mode or just forgetting how to spell....

Bearings are now done.
MOT was £200 to get through.
Now I need to sort the vibrations at speed caused by either poor tracking, poor wheel balancing or dodgy suspension. Fitting new wheel next week so we'll see if it's any better.
Still got an annoying misfire that I can't fix. So far it's had a new coolant sensor, MAP sensor, ignition coil and spark plugs. Next thing to swap is probably both lambda sensors (pre and post cat) and HOPE that fixes it because it's really annoying!

Driver's side rear arm bearings. Bought them already just need to get round to fitting.
Ashtray doesn't close properly. It's shut atm but I daren't open it.
Rear demister - half of the strips don't work.
Windscreen washers don't work properly, keep blocking.
Scratches and little dings to be cleaned up.
and MOT is due in about 2 weeks.
