Re: She failed the MOT :(

I had a Fiesta MOT'd years ago that failed on rust on the sills. Had to be welded for the repair. Cost nearly what the car was worth to MOT it.
I still think it's smarter to MOT a car than to replace it and get something else because if you get another car you might be surprised at what comes up at its next MOT test; whereas if you MOT your trusty car at least you know there's nothing else wrong with it.

That's four years longer than me. I got my first BX TZD Estate in 1991 and sold it to Bob Smith in 1998 when I changed to a 2.1 Xant. (Bob doesn't post on here now but I see the BX is still on the register as SORN) Since they started driving, I've encouraged my girls to run PSAs as well which I manage to get through MOTs each year. Just recently I took the Saxo for a test, having replaced the rear brake shoes and given the car a look over. At the test centre I watched the smoke test being done then as the car was driven forward on to the rollers I saw that a brake light was blown. It was fine only four days earlier but fully expected a fail for it. Then I saw the assistant changing the bulb. At the end of the test I thanked the guy for seeing to the light and asked him how much. AMAZEMENT: "There's no charge - but you can put a donation in the teapot if you like." As I said in a previous post, that's two cars done this year. Two more to go!

We are fortunate enough to still have an MOT garage like that.

My first Citroens were diesel CX Safari's, the diesel that broke the mold.
