does the heater work properly,

Malcolm, thanks, the heater is fine and when Citroen initially investigated the problem back in December when they said they could find no signs of gasket failure or leaks they flushed the cooling system and replaced the cap.

I have bled the system (many times, it keep collecting air in the top hose). I also changed the thermostat because it was running too cold.

Regards.

Many thanks, I'll give them a call when I have had a moment to investigate a little further. I've hired a car at present, needs must, my mother is seriously ill and it is a 200 mile round trip to the hospital.

Regards.

That's definitely working for a hire purpose...

I have on a completely different car, very similar coolant pressurisation issues. I am going to try running it with each cylinder decommissioned in sequence, to see if a specific pot is causing the symptoms. Sort of a poor man's leakdown.

Sorry to hear about your mum Nigel and all good wishes for a speedy recovery. I've a similar situation and always keep at least one brimmed with fuel, just in case... Especially with the tanker drivers behaving as they are...

Thanks for your kind words, things are going in the right direction. It seems problems always come at the same time.
