Renault Laguna III Dynamique S , tourer

It's amazing what can change in a week , I was looking at selling the doblo/Zx to get down to one vehicle now I'm the proud owner of this beauty after px'ing the doblo for a landrover freelander 2 . We were offered nearly as much for the doblo as what we were for this so the doblo goes next Friday . I drove the Laguna over to bawtry this afternoon to look at the freelander and it just took it in it's stride . So I'm now back to two cars and both of these are here to stay . I rate this car as one of the best allround cars I've drove , it will be in for a service in a few weeks and get the antifreeze and brake fluid changed too and that's it .

That sounds like a good situation Mark, you do seem to really like the LagunaIII and a Freelander should be handy if we have some challenging weather

I certainly do Chris , it ticks all the right boxes and then some , the deciding factor was that it wasn't worth that much more than the Doblo so it was win win for me . I get to keep the Zx and this too .

One more sleep until the freelanders here . Been using the Laguna for work this week , I've not been this happy with a car for along time absoflippinluty loving it .

There's only one estate car which I think looks as nice as this and that's the Jaguar Xf sportbrake which is way out of my price bracket .

I've not had chance take any pics of my wife's replacement for the Laguna but here's one taken from the ad for it , it's a freelander 2 with the Psa sourced 2.2 diesel 160 bhp (no dpf ) , it's got a full stratstone landrover service history and I must say they drive extremely well and it's returning mid 30's mpg on my wife's work run . It comes with the optional panoramic sunroof and privacy glass . For the size it's no slouch and so comfy .



I'll get some more pics up when i've got it cleaned up properly .

I've got the week off work this week so today we had a run out to Cleethorpes on the East coast in the Laguna to stretch its legs . The more I drive this car the more I love it , I had the cruise control on today and flipping the cruise button up from 70 to 90 mph there was fantastic pickup and also warning from Missus M who was sat in the back . The weather was glorious and we had a nice walk along the promenade with the inlaws and a trip on miniature railway too which was great . On the return journey the trip computer was showing 45 mpg with the air-con on so I'm pretty happy with that . I've got to get the car booked in soon for a service and a check at the Renault specialist we use , after that is a good polish and get some sealant on ready for the Autumn/Winter .

Seems you're enjoying the LagunaIII Mark, they are nice looking cars. Cruise control is a brilliant feature, I just wish more Xantias had it, it would be the icing on the cake for my HDi Exclusive.

I totally agree Chris about the cruise control , I much prefer the system on the Laguna to the landrover system as the Renault system has a display on the dash when you adjust the cruise speed and is far easier to set etc , I kept upping the speed from 70 to 90 and in a blink it was there .

The LagunaIII system sounds similar to the one on the C5II and C3 Picasso we have, which also have a digital display with the cruise speed set to. A very useful feature, I prefer it to the one on our eldest C5.

I like the old Vacuum cruise on the Xantia and XM which I believe is identical to the Land Rover system..

It's gentle, very smooth and does the job a perfect treat...

A long overdue update on the Laguna, there's not much to report really, I had a slight issue with the scuttle drains getting blocked but other than that it's been faultless. I've just had a new pair of front tyres fitted today as the Dunlop SP01's were down to their limit. I eventually went for a pair of Lassa Phenoma as a pair of Dunlops were over £300 so I'll see how the Lassa's compare to those. I did notice while the wheels were off that the discs are getting ready for replacement soon so I'll price some up. The cars now got its winter sealant on and it's my old favourite, dodo juice supernatural hybrid which should see it through the bad weather.
