Doesn't the Xantia weigh nearly twice as much as the BX?

BX is a 1980's style performance and economy oriented lightweight.

Xantia is a 1990's safety oriented car with all the extra weight that entails.

I remember when I took over the wife's BX 19TZi when she replaced it with a nice shiny Xantia 2.0i, she was most dischuffed when I easily pulled away from her up hill.

1100+kg for a diesel BX vs 1400 for a diesel Xantia innit?

I occasionally think the BX isn't that light, then remember it was a fairly big car for its time.

A BX TD weight exactly 1000kgs according to the brochure. My Xantia 1.8i has about the same BHP as My BX GT, but the difference in pick up is startling!

2.8i Capri? Steer it with the gas pedal.

Sounds a bit like my Mark 2 RS2000 Custom!!!

As for OP, I had a TZD Turbo which was blistering performance for a diesel. I then went on to buy a TXD Estate for load lugging. Thinking it had a T in its moniker meant it had a Turbo was a mistake. That was a slug.

Not sure if there is any difference between a TZD and a TZD Turbo. My TZD Turbo was a 1993. I had to have one after some pr*t undertook me on the A42 when I was in a Saab 9000 Turbo (not renowned for being slow despite its size). I didn't see him coming!

If a BX is a turbo diesel they have a "turbo" badge as a rule as back in the 80s it was the thing to do! the "T" means summat else, in french!
