Old 2.2? swirl valve actuator doesn't show as a specific fault under an analyser but Turbo Overboost fault is a give away.

Hi Chaps, I did say earlier, to be continued, well I took it back to Pedigreed yesterday for a further check having told them about possible swirl valve being the cause. They spent an hour then when i asked they said it was the finned diffuser piston sticking, checked to see if it could be ordered separately from Citroen or anyone else but the answer was no. A new one from Citroen was £1000 they had checked on ebay and links to other suppliers and the cheapest re-conditioned Turbo was about £300. They gave me the keys and did not charge. This morning I received a call from a Customer Service Manager at Citroen UK, saying he was phoning to enquire how I was getting on with my 4 month saga of problems. I updated him..........wait for it......he said as a gesture of goodwill he was going to authorise the supply of a new turbo, to be fitted at my expense for free yes 100% contribution. Perhaps my loyalty to the brand over 40 years has been recognised. The garage are hoping to fit it mid week.

I hope that fixes it for you. I'm surprised that they are paying for a turbo on a car 9years old and 110k on the clock which IIRC had only 2 citroen services and 3 independent garage services and then self (me) serviced the rest. I suppose the fact that I kept a record in the service book of when I did service it might have a difference. Pedigreed cars seem to be better with you than they were with me the one time I used them. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Hi , update as promised. I took the car to get new Turbo fitted. I sat down, and the after sales manager said "You are not planning to wait?" Yes i said, no he said it is a five and half hour job, we have a courtesy car waiting for you. I am 6' 5" and car was a C1, but I fitted. Phone call later in day to say a pipe had coroded and they thought it best to order a replacement, keep C1 until tomorrow. Tomorrow came and went, call at end of day, went and picked it up paid £360 labour charge drove home acceleration smooth running great. Got home put it in garage. Woke up next day cleaned it polished it, put it back in garage. Friday went to Lossiemouth approx 28 miles, back to Elgin 8 miles, popped into Asda. Got back in car drove eight miles THE DREADED ESP/ASR ANTIPOLUTION FAULT CAME ON.
4.00pm, phoned every one apart from sales gone home not back until Monday. Monday came made the call, better bring it back we have the C1 waiting. I put fuel in the C1 as it was blinking madly on empty. I phoned at at 12.30. to be told yes it is ready, we had not tightened up the vacuum pipe properly. WAS THIS THE PROBLEM FROM THE START? Oh no said they. You must be getting bored by now, so despite my best efforts to repeat condition that caused the problems. it has been running perfectly. THE END????? Thanks for your input chaps, or I am sure I would still be paying for guesswork.

Was all of this work carried out by a main dealer?

I hope it is all fixed now. Vacuum pipe loose, mmmmmmm could have been that all along I suppose. Pedigreed cars, only one of two citroen dealers I know of north of Aberdeen so therfore nearly a monoply and can do and say what they want? Sounds a bit sus to me considering the problems I had with them when the same warning came up at about 60000 miles on the same car and they wanted to charge me £1300 for a turbo then. As I have said before I don't trust them.

I don't trust dealers. I would never recommend one. I've had far too many poor dealings with them in the past. In my experience most of them don't have a clue. Use an independant and save youself time and money.
