Re: My XM V6.... She Lives! Come look, BIG update....
That's very restrained Chris... I'd have made the font even bigger, made it red and used far more naughty words...Chris570 wrote:WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW F*CKED OFF I AM WITH THIS XM![]()

I must admit, it really is a bit of a *******

No worries, we have a plan

She'll ride again... We'll bloody well see she does. She'll not win this one. Onwards and upwards...

Crikey sorry to hear that Chris, if it was mine I'd have a FCF meet, place a grill above the XM and use it as a BBQ

If any car had tested my patience like that one it would be toast or on it's way to being a baked bean container, I don't do unreliable or money pitsChris570 wrote:nothing to do with the fact you don't like xm's

Re: My XM V6.... She Lives! And will soon die
There are 2 reasons why it's lived this far.
1) I said I would fix it.
2) It's rare.
Plus there are only a finite amount of parts on it ergo a finite amount of problems.
Had this have been an ebay xantia special it would be full of beans already.

Re: My XM V6.... She Lives! And will soon die
I believe one small step toward making the XM run again has been achieved this evening...
This was spotted in my locality this evening...
I wonder where he found it...

I really must check my V6 still has an engine...
I will be having the old engine for forensic examination and potential overhaul.
I'm looking forward to pulling an ES9J4 to bits actually

That must be so infuriating!!
If I were closer I'd give you a hand, good to see a new one has been sourced so quickly though.

I'd take a grinder to the pillars first, and fill the interior with charcoal, put a huge grille over the lot, and feed everyone at one from itDickieG wrote:Crikey sorry to hear that Chris, if it was mine I'd have a FCF meet, place a grill above the XM and use it as a BBQ

Seriously - sorry to hear of your troubles Chris, I'm sure between you and Jim it will ride again.
If any help is needed wrestling that new block into place, I have plenty of days off coming up...

Infuriating doesn't get close. Jim will tell you (as will anyone that has worked with me) that my language can be shall we say colourful... Well Jim remarked this afternoon (while picking up some scrap metal he had) that he was surprised at how calm I was on the phone last night. Reason being, this car has pushed me beyond my swearing knowledge, I simply cannot find the words to describe it. So i'd best concentrate on fixing it. I like a challenge me. (Fortunately)
Car, meet your new heart

I did ponder earlier, how many people have done and engine removal and refitting on their XM?? I'm doing it twice before mine hits the road.
In all honesty though I don't anticipate too many hardships along the way on this as everything was in pieces less than 2 miles ago. But, this is an XM.
Robert Smart........... are you sure you still want this saga??

Hi Chris,
Sorry to read about your troubles.
I'll still take any part of your saga you wish to share with the fellow Citroenians.
I hope you are going to change the head gaskets on this lump before you put it in.

Re: My XM V6.... She Lives! And will soon die
Chris, I'm disappointed. I thought that was the old engine already out. What's keeping you? It's been at least two hours since you left...
Oh, and by the way, the replacement engine is the wrong way round
But yes, I know exactly where you're coming from. It is good

Re: My XM V6.... She Lives! And will soon die
As usual little things crop up during "car time" putting a delay on works. Nevermind. Today is the first day since the XM geyser that I've had some time to attend to the patient. Managed to find an hour and a half and we're now at the stage where once the shafts are out and the exhaust separated I can take the nosecone off and lift the engine out. i've taken the wiring loom off the engine this time round as I think it'll make life a shade easier given the LPG situation. The gearbox is also ready to come off the engine as well. i reckon that about one hours work will see the engine free and the gearbox off the engine. Tomorrow will see that job done as well as building the ancillaries on the new engine. Then I'll have to strip the camboxes off the new engine and reseal them as i've been advised they arent' too hot. Next up is re-timing.... fun on a quad cam engine (HDi wins here). Once that's all done, back in the bay she goes. Breathe.
Oh and Jess (my lovely lady) is picking up a C4 on sunday so that's something else to look forward to
At least this time her car has aircon
