As promised a few pics of the Zx after I machine polished it using my rotary , the polish and pad combinations were 3M yellow pad with 3M yellow polish and 3M blue pad and meguiers 205 ultra finishing compound to really bring out the gloss and flake pop , there is no wax or sealant on the paintwork at all , this will be applied upon completion of the whole car .

There are still a few areas that require more attention on the drivers side but I am very happy with what I have achieved with the 18 yr old paintwork , it's far from perfect but perfect never stays perfect if you use the car as its meant to .

That looks great Mark.

I need to put a rotary polisher around the C4 as there's some underlying swirls that are sometimes noticeable...

I'm afraid not Jim , it's my weekend to work  . Franklin the C4 will come up amazing with the rotary , don't bother with the DA , you can pick a silverline rotary polisher up at toolstation with a 3yr guarantee for about £42 , great value and a great machine to start with .

The Zx is back on track now for its MoT this Friday , my ex-Citroen mechanic pal has sorted out the brakes and given the old girl a service , he also had a check of the Abs as the lights had a tendency to come on occasionally , he checked all the sensors to no avail and concluded it could possibly be the Abs block/pump ? So I've got to get a lexia session sorted , not bad really as I've had her 3 yrs now and this is the first time I've had to get her plugged in . I've managed to find a company who will rebuild the Abs unit and will be getting in touch for a price .

What do you think of the 500? Mum took delivery of her 1.2 "Colour Therapy" three months ago, I drove it for the first time yesterday and was mighty impressed! Ok, the engine was a little less than what I'm used to but they feel like a big car in all the ways that matter and are real fun to chuck about. Really made the C1/107/Aygo trio seem like total basic peasant transport which I'll scoff at even more from now on. Even had to swallow my pride and admit she was right to neglect the French by not buying a Twingo....

I'm a big fan of the 500 Luke , ours is the 1.3 Jtd and it suits the car really well , infact if I could get away with having a small car I'd have one myself . I sat in a Abarth last weekend and that was very nice but felt very gloomy due to having a black headlining and no sunroof #-o , I really don't think I could part with the Zx for an 500 Abarth though when you take into account depreciation etc and I'm pretty sure the Zx would be able to hold its own performance wise  . Here's a pic of the wife's baby (the white one) at an Italian car show we went to recently .

That's lovely Mark. And yeh, the Abarth treatment really made something rather cool out of a design you never thought could appeal to boys :)

I thought I'd better give the old girl a run after being stood for over a week now , so a trip to put a few quids worth of Esso's finest ultimate unleaded in and a little run . Since its been serviced and the acav system looked at I can't believe how much more responsive the car is , even in fourth gear it's willing to pull pretty damn good . I've also just renewed my insurance with Adrian Flux and sent my agreed value paperwork back so it will be interesting to see what value they come up with this year , I'm looking for around £1800 but I've had trouble with them in the past so only time will tell . Next job is to have the tyre removed from the spare wheel and have it shotblasted and then resprayed .

Nothing major to report on the Zx really, it was stood for a while over the Christmas period so all I've done is take the battery off and put it on a trickle charge. It's had some use this week and I've really enjoyed it, on one occasion taking a nice drive our before I went to work and enjoying it that much I nearly didn't make work  . The next job I want to.sort out is to.get some clips for the side skirts which are unavailable from Citroen so I'm looking at getting one 3D scanned and a few made up price dependant, I'm going to the printing people next week so I'll post the outcome.

Thanks, I try to use it as much as I can through the winter depending on gritting.
