Citroen Zx16v

The jobs are done on the old girl , new flexi hoses allround with new fluid the o/s/f Abs sensor has been replaced and hopefully that's it , the Mot is booked for Saturday morning at 8:30 . The bumpers getting resprayed are being put on hold as my van was broken into on Tuesday so due to having £1000 worth of tools stolen and the insurance not covering it the jobs I had planned for the Zx have been put of for a while .

Good news , the old girl passed the Mot today with no problem , just need to watch the exhaust as a section/box won't last much longer so it looks like a custom made stainless system on the cards

Just a little update , the Zx has been called on for my daily driver to work seeing as the Dispatch has chucked it's dummy out of the pram and cut out in lane 2 of the M18 on Sunday morning , it looks like it's a fueling problem but until I can get it diagnosed it's sat on the drive . I certainly enjoyed getting behind the wheel of the Zx as it's been four weeks nearly since she's been anywhere . I'm hoping the repair on the van won't be too pricey , if it is it's going to get sorned till it can be sorted and i'll make the most of the Zx

Well the dispatch has been fixed and the Zx is back to the occasional weekend run , I try not to use the old girl much this time of year with all the nasty road conditions

I know what you mean Mark I took my V6 for a nice long run today and after tooling around in Rattiva almost exclusively for the past few weeks it was bliss

I do love the Zx Jim but hate using it this time of year and at the steelworks where I work there is always contaminants etc in the air and it ends up on the car . I used the Zx for two weeks and when I dry the car after a wash you can feel the drying towel dragging on the contamination . Only a couple of months ago I gave the van a good clean but the roof was covered in tiny iron spots/contamination so I used a special product called IronX which removes the fallout , here's a few pics of it doing it's stuff on the van roof , it's clear in the bottle and turns purple when it comes into contact with iron




And here's a few pics of some ocre water which got splashed up and covered half of my wife's laguna , jetwashing wouldn't move it , not even a good wash but IronX saved the day . This really is great stuff

Time for a little update on the Zx , saw my Ex-Citroen mechanic pal last night when he did a job on my wifes Laguna and he brought a bag of new old stock Citroen goodies , remote receiver unit & plip remote , wing mirror glass , parcel shelf cords , various locks/barrels , wiper stalk , headlamp adjusters and lots more , I'll probably replace the remote locking saensor/receiver on the 16v as the original remote is looking a little tired and also get the rear shelf cords replaced as the cords are past their best .

Update time for the 16v . Due to selling my van shortly the Zx will be taking over duties as my daily driver , not ideal this time of year but it was either use her or look at letting her go which I didn't want to do . A good wash everyweek will keep things looking good as I don't do much mileage to and from work , it will be good to get some use out of the old girl .

Will you be replacing your van or are your reducing your car numbers?

Im sure your 16v ZX will enjoy a bit of daily use for a while and no doubt you will enjoy using it too. Not many about now though.

That IronX stuff looks great, ive had similar metal residue on cars in the past and it took me an age to polish and clay off the paintwork. Might just get some of that for future use, where do you get yours from?

The van has been broken into twice and tools stolen and due to not having much private work on I have decided to let it go sadly . We have also just sold the Laguna II and it will be getting replaced with a Laguna III very shortly . I really needed to get some use out of the Zx as it could be sat for weeks on end . Have you found a suitable LagunaIII Yet? What spec are you looking for? Hatch or Tourer?

We have found a Laguna III hatch local to us , it's a 2008 2.0 dci 150bhp with a few nice options on , built in sat nav , factory bluetooth , full panoramic roof and a rear spoiler . Hopefully we will be collecting it Saturday so I'll post some pics up after a good cleaning session. You will be very happy with the IronX it's a very useful addition to any cleaning collection .

I guess the built in satnav is the TomTom version, really great to use if so.

Id have a LagunaIII, very nice cars in my opinion and very enjoyable to drive, almost sporty in fact

What spec is it? Dynamique?

It's the Dynamique S model , it's got some nice bits on such as heated seats and pull up blinds in the side windows and one in the rear shelf . It is quite a sporty drive not as soft as our old laguna II but even that handled pretty good .
