I wonder if you could fit the spare to the front? Seems odd as usually they like you to fit spare wheels to the rear, however I suppose the fronts wont have the locating lugs, so if you get stuck in future it might be the case.

Thank heavens for this Zx it's always there waiting in the wings , I do like this doblo but I don't think it will be here too much longer .

Well winter is well and truly with us now so it's time for the Zx to get it's winter protection on ( not that it's used much in the winter ) . I was getting low on some of my favourite cleaning essentials so my wife and I had a drive over to Huddersfield in the Doblo with the dog stopping of at a great chippy on the way for dinner . I only needed a couple of essentials which were shampoo and some quick detailer , I decided to try a different shampoo to my regular finishkare fk#1016 which i am running low on and decided to try some dodo juice basics of bling ph neutral shampoo which comes highly reccomended . Next up was some more quick detailer from finishkare , their fk #425 polywipe which I cannot rate highly enough in a 1 ltr spray bottle , while I was at the cleaning company I managed to blag a free sample of trix ( a combination of ironX & tar remover ) , this I will try in due course on the doblo as that picks up alot of contamination due to where I work . So if the weather holds this week it's a thorough clean and clay followed by two coats of dodo juice supernatural hybrid sealant and the windows treated to some rainX , I'll get some pics up if the weathers on my side .

I don't blame you for not using your ZX much through winter. At this rate my Activa won't be out again for a while, this weather is awful and there is far too much salt around.

Your Fiat is in for a bit of pampering then!

I can't remember the last time the doblo had any sort of wax/sealant on , this awful weather isn't helping .

I'm the same with my C5, it does get frequent washes but nothing more.

Nope, I've decided my Activa and XM are going to be spared the worst of the winter mayhem now the V6 is back on the road....

Not really Zx related but what with the freezing conditions and a bad winter forecast I decided to replace the battery on the doblo to be on the safe side as it is still the original battery (6yrs) old , anyhow I fitted a new exide battery . While i was messing I thought I'd see if the Zx would start up after nearly 3 weeks stood , not a chance so on with the old battery of the doblo and she fires first time so of for a quick drive . I'll get the Zx's battery on charge and have it ready for when it's needed.

Good move. Poor batteries get a hard time at the mo. I did the same on the black Mégane before it gave up completely. The Mégane is great at warning you the battery is on it's way out before it lets you down completely.... all the trip computer data clears when you start it in the morning!

The cars haven't had any luxury lavished on them lately due to work and weather so while I've been off work and the weather has been fine I thought I give them a good clean .First up was the Zx so I gave it a good wash with some dodo juice basics of bling shampoo which i'm very impressed with , after a good wash I decided to give the paintwork a going over with a meguiars claybar using a water and a small drop of shampoo for lube , after a good rinse down I applied some valet pro tar and glue remover to the lower halves of the doors to remove any tar and splatters of underbody wax I applied after my remedial work to the jacking points . The car was then given a good rinse then dried with a large microfibre drying towel , I decided I would try a product on the paintwork I've not used for a while which is finishkare fk #215 ultra all in one surface cleaner & sealant which left a very glossy finish , the tyres were treated with my favourite finishkare 108as tyre/rubber , I'll get some pics up tommorrow as I was pushed for time . The car is looking better than it has looked for a while I'm very happy with it .

Next up was the doblo which has really been neglected , the wheels/tyres/arches were cleaned with some bilt hamber surfex Hd in a foaming sprayer which brought the wheels up nicely , then onto a good shampoo with dodo juice basics of bling , de tar / de iron the lower half with some carpro trix tar & iron remover ( good stuff ) , the tyres were dress with some meguiars endurance tyre gel , the arches given a spray with silicone , Autoglym fast glass for the windows and the paint sealed with dodo juice supernatural hybrid sealant ( anyone with a metallic car must try this ) , here's a few pics .

I've been doing much the same - taking advantage of the lovely weather and giving the XM and V6 a much needed bath and a good clean inside too... I suspect very much that you've done a much better job than I have with mine

Makes one feel good to get out in the great outdoors and do something productive

I cleaned the C4 the other day using some new Meguiars products that I got however a few days of use and it's back to how it was... The trouble with this time of year...

Haha , Jim and Luke I'd do yours if you were nearer . I've got to get some winter protection on my wifes Laguna but the weather put the kybosh on that on new years day ( yes really ) , I could clean cars for a job if I could get enough to do it's just that people would rather pay the refugee car washes £5 to wash their cars badly . I'll get a couple of pics of the Zx up Luke . Here's a beading pic from a while back of the laguna after a coat of dodo juice rainforest rub , a fantastic wax , not as durable as some but amazing beading .
