The height corrector is controlled by two sets of linkages.
One is the manual override which the height lever by your seat controls.
The other is the auto corrector which is controlled by a clamp on the ARB via the dogbone.
Without that the car doesn't know where "level" is.

Got the car up on axle stands and it looks like th dog bone is still attached ...well at least from feel ( bloody glasses wont let me see things up real close! ) This is in normal height position. The part of the dog bone I can see is definitely on, seems solid enough, not loose anyway .

I phoned Citoren and asked them about the spheres that have been fitted and they reckon 55bar is correct. They would have charged me £52 + vat and would have fitted for £170 inclusive.

If you have a digital camera, use it to take photo's of your height correctors then examine on your computer.

I often have to do this with small stuff.

Just wiped it unfortunately but had a photo of an indicator bulb that is 22mm long, 7mm wide and has text 2mm high.

A macro photo blown up to 10" high revealed the unreadable text :)

Seems like my car has exactly the same problem. So did you finally manage to solve it?

its not usually the height corrector at fault, but the linkage/turrets,
so you can leave the H/C in place on its pipes and just remove the cradle/linkage/turrets

Not wishing to hijack this thread but I have exactly the same issue as the original poster.... but I'm not particularly mechanically minded, don't own any ramps and don't know where to find the height corrector. If I was to entrust this repair to my local garage, what's the likely cost? Thanks in advance.

Incidentally, the problem only arose after having a front suspension arm mounting replaced for the MOT. Mechanic said he'd struggled with it and had to take move the anti roll bar in the process. Could this have dislodged/broken the height corrector?

Thanks again.

Exactly same thing happened to me. Have had this problem ever since one front suspension arm was replaced!

The chances are that any local garage picked at random will know next to nothing about Citroen hydraulics with the following possibilities:
  • If you're lucky, they'll tell you they don't have the equipment (none), the time and/or expertise (honest),
They will try to put you off with a high quote,
They will over-estimate and hope they can fix it while blundering around in the dark (what's happened to Bigbossa),
They are desperate for work, and claim they can do anything (which is why they're short of work!)
One further piece of advice: add your location to your signature, then at least there's a chance that a Forum member not far away and with more knowledge or tolls will offer their help.

OK, so assuming I decide to bite the bullet and effect a DIY fix, where do I locate the height corrector? Does someone have a pic to illustrate its location please?

Many thanks.
