Trouble is the poll doesnt take into account AC, its whether you like a sunroof or not, not which you prefer. If it had been, I think AC would be far ahead.citroenxm wrote:Its very close 50/50 everyone has their reasons... Mostly noise or draft noise...

I see the two as parallels, not always competitors. Also, what I did, was ask a "black or white" question - then gave optional answers of black, white and grey.
Aircon could be a poll for Andrew to start. FWIW he should be heartened that over one third of FCF members agree with him completely on sunroofs!
Cheers, Adam.

Have always liked sunroofs. They are great for giving a comfortable draft in summer when it's not hot enough for aircon, no ventilation system I've ever experienced can provide the same. However, I normally only use it on tilt, rarely fully open.
Also, when the car is parked in summer the roof can be opened to ventilate the car so it's less like an inferno when returning to drive away.
So far the roof on my Xantia has been problem free, whereas the AC is out of order ATM !! After having a regas attempt, fortunately by a friend so didn't have to pay, it was diagnosed as leaking, where from we couldn't detect, even with the tell tale dye !

With uncanny timing my sister called me yesterday asking about radiator
repairs and what I'd do to fix one. Turns out she took her beloved C4 HDi
to ATS as they are offering an AC check and recharge for £40 and in the
past gorgeous hot weather it hasn't worked in her car Turns out there's a
hole in the condenser probably from a stone etc chucked up off the road
and holing the main matrix. ATS didn't charge for the test of applying and
removing the dye and recommended a rad specialist who may be able to
still see the dye with UV light etc.
Seems unfortunate she now has to fork out anything between £100 just for
the new rad, £202 all Inc from Citroen and either pay the additional fitting
labour or have me fit one and hope it's sealed for another test/regass.
Like I say, extra complexity and gotcha costs waiting to mug the wallet.
Yes, her main cooling rad could've taken the knock had the condenser
not been fitted but a replacement rad would've been easier and cheaper
to fit; I'm not looking forward to tackling the pipe fittings onto the C4's
condenser TBH and this is on a 5 year old car - most new stuff seems
to be made from liquorice!!

That's not a happy situation for your sister Andrew
I love sunroofs and wish all mine had one. Sadly, only my Activa is so fitted... She also has aircon too
I was glad of aircon in Old V6 yesterday. Gosh, it was warm
For me, sunroofs are mostly for their light admittance and I actually rarely open them. They do make the car seem lighter, airier and less claustrophobic - a very important consideration for me...
It's a reason I like the cream leather in New V6 It makes it seem roomier and lighter than Old V6 with its black leather...

Headroom, I'd forgotten about that!
I suppose we have to distinguish between solid sunroofs and fabric one.
I's the solid ones that impinge on my headroom. My late mother's Toyota Celica caught my head whenever I looked to the right and, back in the days of my Montego ownership, mine was sunroofless but when I sat in one with a sunroof there was a good two inches less headroom.
Fabric ones don't seem to suffer thusly but they will eventually rip and anyway, they let noise in.

As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Just reminded me of the best sunroof in the world there Paul!
Yep the full canvas hood rolled back on a 2CV - probably why
I love having any car's roof fully opened as I always have 2CV's
with theirs fully open!
And a 2CV's air conditioning was a knob that opened the vent flap
on the scuttle...
plenty of headroom too!

With you totally there Jim; we've (OK, probably I've) mentioned this consideration regarding sunroof in the past. The latest Activa I've just boughtCitroJim wrote:For me, sunroofs are mostly for their light admittance and I actually rarely open them. in has a solid lid and it's instantly apparent the loss of light transmitted into
the cabin - I'm trying to kid myself the blind is shut.
The cream lighter interior does make a noticeable difference too.
So your New V6 is green with cream leather too? Snap!
