Enough is enough,theres something not right somewhere, im getting it to rise and fall but it just will not stay up in the drive position so im just going to leave it in to the chap i normally go to and let him deal with it

Sorry I'm being lazy and not checking the thread to check which parts are new but if the dogbone is popping off either the ball or the cup is worn IMO.
One thing I did notice was that at certain extremes of clamp position (a well-meaning "friend" released the clamp without countering the spring pressure), the car would not rise for several minutes, as if the rams had stuck.
However, I certainly wouldn't want to attempt setting the height using just ramps, it was a PITA using a tyre centre's ramp lift so don't blame you for passing the job to someone else.
