Cheers KP, unfortunately that's usually the way :(

Went to view this Citroen C5 V6 today. Probably the first V6 I've walked away from and not looked back!

The Clio has developed a sticky starter motor. I have to carry a spanner in the car and when it sticks (50%) of the time, lift the bonnet, give it a good whack and away we go... character :-D

Nice 2001 Scénic for auction tomorrow night. My favourite 1.6 Petrol with auto gearbox combo! Fingers crossed. I did want a Scénic II, but there's no point ignoring a perfectly good 1.6 Auto. The noise of this engine is LOVELY.

What was so wrong with Luke, apart from looking a bit Rattiva-like?

Is that really a showstopper in a C5?

Luke had one with the same fault before, and I had a look at it. Terribly tight on the access front with the big V6 lump. Plus this particular car has been run with no LDS top ups, so possible related damage to the electric hydraulic pump.

I'm tempted to get it to break.

I se, so advice is to steer well clear of a C5 with a duff rack then...

Jim you're the perfect person to ask that question. A month without any LDS... Bound to cause its damage? The car was unbelievably filthy inside and out, though the leather was still pretty good. Steering was so heavy I could barely turn it, even with the car in motion. Nobody will buy it. If its still around in a week or two, I will offer £300, park it up and forget about it until somebody who owes me a favour knows how to change a steering rack!

Sounds like a right woofa Luke if they haven't even given it a quick clean before viewing...

For £300 you could get that for the leather, engine and box alone and then still tow it for weigh in :D

Theres loads of half decent motors on that site and the ones that dont go over the scrap value just dont get sold IIRC and get the splitting treatment.

its a MASSIVE MASSIVE site, scrapyard on an industrial scale as their racks can sometimes go 6 cars high and they are proper racks, and there are just fields of them, many many warehouses with engines, wheels, trans parts all stocked and tagged...

Maybe you should buy a flat bed with a lift at the back and pass your B+E and start doing runs across the water as diesels stil sell well in your part of the world don't they??

I know some of these sites are silly and create new ones due to some ejit miss spelling on the delivery note...

They do get some interesting stuff and i often wish i had a £1k stash to just go and buy something to fix up and move on as they seem to drop in price massively for Jan/Feb/Mar time ;)

Wow, thanks KP, I had no idea about this site. Surely only a matter of time before a Laguna V6 or Alfa 166 V6 comes up? :) I'll be keeping an eye on that!

Actually, I think I remember being on that site once. Somebody on Autoshite posted a Renault 20 TX Auto being auctioned by them. There was nothing wrong with it, just in typical weathered condition and had been traded in to a big dealer group who obviously had no idea what to do with it.

You've got me started. Look how clean this looks! 1.8 Auto - lovely combo.

New tailgate, light cluster and this Espace is good to go.

You've started something here.... 8-[
