Mind, that ones has enough miles on it
Oh I am! There's a few here in NI that I'm keeping close tabs on.

Imagine the 25 V6 sitting beside a Safrane, followed by a Vel Satis. The ultimate dream!

A quarter of a million miles done by an automatic Renault!? It must have got through about 6 gearboxes! :D

This afternoon I have driven both of Luke's cars.

The Megane is a nice car for what it is; a sporty little hatchback. Not my kind of car. I had to remind Luke on numerous occasions to get his spheres re-gassed!

Now the Volvo 440, that really did impress me! What an excellent car, a really nice thing to drive, and quicker than the Megane. Lovely and comfortable for a sprung car as well. Just a nice all rounder car.

So did Luke get beguiled by the charms of something with a wet suspension?

Yes, he got to take my 2.1 TD Auto Xm for a drive, and soon stopped his anti-diesel mutterings!

He needs to try a 2.5 one then - almost converted me from a die hard diesel hater

If the 2.5 was as user friendly in terms of reliability and working on them, then I would have one.

They're very very impressive cars, I could live with the no auto with them having such a nice gear change.

Yep, I'll admit it, I was wrong to dismiss the diesel.

I tried to find things to criticize about Robert's blue XM but found it very hard indeed. It's definitely the nicest XM I've driven, and my favourite of Robert's fleet hands down. The grey leather is just amazing.

But... andmcit, I think a diesel with a manual gearbox, however smooth it is, may be a step too far

I had the unfortunate experience of seeing quite a few 2CVs today, as well as the tent on wheels that is the Méhari.

Thankfully there was a nice petrol auto BX and a drive in a beautiful XM to bring the day to a nice end.

Ah, so a Volvo 440 is a nicer car than a MeganeII, interesting!

Im pleased you liked the diesel Xm Luke, diesel engines are excellent! Well, some of them are. You have to have a manual Xm though, 4 pedals is just too interesting and too much fun to miss!

A diesel with a manual box ... you have a manual petrol with 6 speed! Its a bit the same but you need less gear changes ....

I really need to drive a 2.5 Xm to see what the fuss is about.

Xms do take some beating 8-)

Andrew
Hahaha we could always consider revising the name? No it's my fault.. I keep buying them! Sorry, I'll try to stop.

And for the record Chris NO a 440 is not better than a Mégane. A certain person just prefers staying in the 20th century :D

Anyhow, of course a CX isn't better than an XM.

A GS is better than them both.

Yes of course it will rust but that's what makes the whole deal so much
more challenging and the payback that much more rewarding!
