Update,

Whilst driving today in limp mode the engine note went deeper and sounded throaty, I have heard before that during 'regen' the drivers wing mirror gets warm. I thought i would check this and yes it was noticably warm.

So, at least it seems that the car is attempting to regen??? :?

I'm guessing something's been changed, any clues for us?

From my understanding of the FAP functions through the EDC 15C2 (I know yours is a Siemens but should be similar) the BSI will load the alternator to load the engine to assist in regeneration by turning on the rear screen heater, cooling fans and preheaters.

I don't see why mirror heaters can't be part of the loading but I'm surprised FAP regeneration can be authorised in limp home mode! Good news if it has happened though and how does the car behave now?

Hi Mike

To be honest the car seems not different/ better. That said i was only on a 5 minute drive to the shops when it happened.; If there is any noticable difference on the way to work tomorrow i will post back.

Apparantley it is a common way of checking 'regen' when the mirror gets hot. Had never thought of checking it before until now and it was certainly warm.

Limp mode still there. Booked in for Tuesday for a look at. Trying not to be too hopefull but cant help but thinking it may be a step nearer.

God i sound desperate!!

Sorry, there's something slightly farcical about the mirror getting warm during a regen    Only on a French car...

On the face of it you couldn't make it up but then understanding the loading for regen it all makes some kind of sense. No wonder the engine went a bit throaty!!!

Good luck Pugsick and here's hoping a visit on Tuesday armed with all that has been learned so far, the result will be good :D

Thanks CitroJim.

You are right. 'Wing mirror glass getting hot' you couldnt make it up. Only with the french eh.

Heres hoping for Tuesday. I guess worse ways even the filter change etc with help somewhere down the line (or am i trying to convince myself). No doubt i will post any results or findings straight back here for the experts to throw some light on. :?

Ok,,,

Having driven some 50 miles in to work this morning i must say that despite limp mode and depo system fault it did seem to drive a lot smoother and a bit more power.

That said i would still say that it is defo down 35% on what it should be. The regen must have done sonething? i guess? or am i being paranoid?

(Dont answer the last bit)..

Ok,

Filters changed today,

2 x pipes behind engine were attached to the wrong ports. In addition to that 2 x breather pipes seemed to be blocked and also cleaned out.

Eolys fluid just over half full and also FAP filter looking in good condition. There seems to be some uncertanty as to what the counters should be sat at when Eolys is full?? ( any advice appreciated).

I am collecting the car later and nervously excited about my 50 mile trip home (will post outcome!!).

One odd point is that the sensors efore and after the FAP do not show any variance. Maybe my next option if it is not better will be to replace one of the sensors as they are prone to water ingress.

Well my drive home was a little longer than anticipated as i took a wrong turn and ended up on the M25. Bit of luck i dont work in logistics (oops).

However, the drive home was an absolute dream. No warning 'bings' and a whole heap of power. It reminded me of my 205GTi days. Still a little (only a little) hesitant low revs but for the first time i enjoyed driving it and i am excited about driving to work tomorrow (sad yep i am).

Still early days as i have been warned it may 'bing' again but so far so good....

Will keep you all posted but a big big thank you to every ones help and suggestions.
