I like the bayonett fittings, they are lovely and look neat with no " i dunit meself" jubelee clips all over the place

I think it will have to be a 2.1 rad myself, from memory i think the 1.9td i saw was a no go.

YES I Can JUST read that!

There a sod pain when the Steel has rusted and the damm things JAMM in the fitting of the rad! And it DOES happen! Your stuffed them!

Ah you see Jim, I thought there would be some reason along those lines.

How do you fit them out of interest? If I get KEV back on the road I'm going to need to reconnect those hoses..

PUSH damm bloody hard untill the metal collar passes the Ridges were the Spring C clip pops on to hold it in place...

There a sod if they are not perfectly CLEAN and clear...

As far as I can see, comparing one against the other, the late bayonet 1.9TD rad and the 2.1TD/Activa rad are identical in size and fixing lugs..

As for refitting, yes, spot-on Paul :D The problem is often removing them and sometimes, especially with the bottom hose it's necessary to break up the bayonet socket to avoid damage to the bayonet plug on the hose.

I've even gone as far as to remove the rad with the bottom hose still attached to give a better purchase on the job.

As you say Paul, get the bayonet clean, pop the special O ring off and descale it and then lubricate the whole bayonet, O ring and socket with a smear of Vaseline.

The Activa never had anything but a bayonet type, even in its earliest incarnations. As the top hose on the Activa is a bit of a special one, fitting a non-bayonet rad would be a game. I suppose you could do it with a joint in the top hose but you're just as well off using the bayonet.

Despite the joint looking a bit flimsy, if you're careful to avoid damage to the bayonet plug and clean and lubricate well, they're very water-tight...

service.citroen lists same part number (1301GL) for 1.9TD after RP 7483, 2.1TD and 2.0T
