It depends how you go about doing it, I brought a Xm over from Wales 3 years ago. And it cost that much. I didn't book any ferries etc, just a single flight incase the car wasn't as described and I didn't want to buy it. I ended up buying my ticket at the port and paying through the nose for it, but it goes with the territory.
Hauliers can bring cars back for about £250, but I'd prefer to inspect a car that was from an unknown seller.

Hi from another Belfast member
The best way to do it is to fly over, have a little holiday with family, buy a french beauty and drive it home. I do it almost everytime I go over, it's definitely the best way to do things.
But there's a good trickle of Xantias on Gumtree etc here anyway, if you're in no rush then why bother!

French is best.
There's a few from NI here then. Nice to see.
I'll bide my time and wait for the right car locally. Funny thing is that I had looked at Xantias before I bought the 106 (I know, they are very different) I had also looked at 406s.
But now, after reading around this forum I have become obsessed with buying a Xantia. My wife caught me on eBay last night looking at them and told me in no uncertain terms what she thought. Ah well... It would certainly suit the family better, right now if we go out as a family we have to take her car as it's a bit of a squeeze in the wee Peugeot.
I've owned Citroens before, just Saxos though, but I know they can be addictive. I'll have to sell the 106 before I buy, but it's only a matter of time.
