Thanks for the pic. Just as I imagined :)
So this filter doesn't block any return fluid into the LHM tank, except the particles.

Yes, that's the idea. Whilst the actual green lhm tank does store the crud at the bottom below the white disc, there must still be bits circulating round the system when the car is in use, so i thought the idea from another owner to fit a filter made sense. I haven't changed this one for a while, so once the weather warms up i'll take it out & take a picture of the inside to see if it caught much rubbish still floating around in the system. I'll probably empty the lhm tank as well & see how much brown mud is in the bottom (again i'll take a piccy for comparison purposes). This lot of lhm is the 1st i've put in after the hydraflushing, so it'll be interesting to see how clean the tank is.

Infact Andy at Westroen who changed some spheres for me recently commented on how clean the lhm was :D

So, who's fitted one or will you shortly? It'll be interesting to see what other peoples results are & whether its a worth while standard fitment for future owners to incorporate to check that everything is as it should be?

Just got round to doing the hydroflush on my XM, the LHM had been changed as the service book required but I was getting what seemed like a sticking valve on start up and suspension staying hard for a time.

Think the car has done less than 20000 miles since the last lhm change. It came out almost black though.

For emptying the LHM tank I bought a cheap drill pump from Wilcos for £7.99.

Added a couple of short lengths of garden hose to it, this emptied the tank quickly and easily with a battery drill.

One quick question though is it worth bleeding the brakes with the hydroflush? They seem fine to me, had no issues. I was planning on just bleeding the brakes with the new LHM after the flushing process. Any thoughts welcome.

Personally I would do it while the hydroflush is in there to help clear out any accumulated rubbish and 'tired' LHM and again prior to draining and replacing with fresh LHM.

May not be beneficial but certainly won't be detrimental.

I'd say its worthwhile as they are dead ends, also i'm unsure if hydraflush would mix all that much with the old lhm, so i'd purge out all the crap in the brakes until hydraflush comes out, then do the same when you put nice new lhm in once you've finished with the hydraflush.

What i also did, was empty out the hydraflush, re-filtered it to remove the crap it had captured, & then put it back in again to continue the good work it had done. I emptied it again, & re-filtered it to make it ready for re-use on another one of my cars, the stuff is quite expensive, so i thought i'd save some money :D
