Your seriously considering it then?
Would be nice if it went to someone who would cherish it, im sure you would, might even see you at some Citroen meetings with it ...
Sounds perfect for you, looks like with a good clean and polish, it will be a cracking car.
No mention of cambelt and i bet the spheres are pretty low on gas too.

Yes, I'd love a sinker Xantia - and it's an AUTO!
I'll call a few people tomorrow and try and get a transport quote from Bath to Walsall. There's a nice warm dry garage just waiting for it.
have you read the specs on it 0 to 60 less than 8, 130 mph yeah its not exciting hehehe

Interesting stuff, but its not 'the' Rover mentioned, is it? If it is then its a little more interestingCGATCX25GTITURBO wrote:my Rover ?R9UKE wrote:haha! Good point, it is much more exciting than the Rover!

my lad has it, the Rover 25 1.6
it surprised me, I didn't press it hard when we bought it, it looks like a grandad car 'so his mates say' and it seems to mince about the town nice. Floor it and it changes does it rev!

Yeh I am, Chris. But I have a funny feeling plenty of people will be after it.Citroenmad wrote:Your seriously considering it then?

It would be put in my aunts garage in Walsall and I'd only use it when I'm over there - so the mileage would be kept low! Of course it would be shown off at all the meetings
What's this about a ticking noise though? You Citroen guys are bound to know what this is?

Good for you Luke I thought for a moment you were considering the Rover...
Ticking is the hydraulic pressure regulator making a tick noise as it cuts in and out like a thermostat. If the tick is very rapid it normally means the accumulator sphere is flat. On a sinker though, the hydraulics are different to an anti-sink as it has a Flow Distributor (the infamous FDV) that can also cause fast ticks.
FDV equipped cars also make a lovely, homely hissing noise
You won't regret a sinker. they're lovely...

Ah yes, ive seen you post pictures of that 25 before, quite a nippy thing for a standard car.
Yes, it might generate interest, though nt a hugely popular Xantia spec so you might get it for a good price.
So it has had recent spheres, though by the sound of the ticking it hasnt had the accumulator changed, not a big or expensive thing to replace.
Our Xm is a 'sinker' but no ticking, as all the spheres are spot on, naturally!

A lot of us would like a nice Activa!
I had the idea today, a local Citroen indy has two Activas sitting dormant, little wrong with either but my eye is on the S1 in green, i might ask him if he will take an offer on one of them next time im in. The other is a S2 in silver.
A nice little project would be quite nice.

The S1 is the better car, its not been stood there long either, so hopefully it wont need too much doing. Though going by his other on going projects, a DS of around 25 years and a BX of about 10, they arnt going to be back on the road in any hurry!

Hahaha trying to make a sale!??? I'd be very tempted - but the older the better, right!?robert_e_smart wrote:What Luke (R9UKE) really wants is a nice Activa
Knew you guys were the people to ask about the ticking! At least it's not a huge problem.
Just called a transport company I know here. £300 from Bath to Belfast. Anybody know of good vehicle transport companies on the mainland i.e. Bath to Walsall? I'd take it home in the summer probably.

Not always Luke! Younger is often quite good too ....R9UKE wrote:

£300 to transport a car! Its a road goer, surely it would be more fun and less expense to fly over and drive it back? Or even have a road trip with a mate to collect the car. Im often going around the country looking at or fetching cars with friends and family, its good fun!

It would be worth checking that the car is actually a sinker car. I remember reading on here that just because it has the chevrons on the bonnet and the non airbag steering wheel, that doesn't mean it's definately a sinker.
Ask for the vin number and someone on here (myself included) could look on the servicebox for you!
