Congrats on the purchase Chris

Is the ride any better than the Mk1 C5 ?

They are a good old bus, they do tend to blow the front sidelights for fun, and they are a pig to get at, though, I do recall somone on here changing them for LED's, just a thought......
Cheers, steve, i can't wait for Friday now!

Oh yes, i know about those, we have had the facelifted C5 estate getting on for 18 months now, every other month it eats a sidelight bulb. Bulbs from motor factors last about a week, so far Halfords bulbs are lasting the longest.

Ive seen those LED kits in pitcures on here before, they looked good, as they light up the whole of the sidelight area. Looks nice lit up, like eyebrows almost!

Maybe me! Having changed mine twice already, I've now put these in:-

Ah, thats not what i was thinking of, im sure ive seen someone put in a strip of LED inside the whole long eyebrow section.

Though those bulbs look great, and no doubt last much longer. Do you have a picture of them lit up? Does the whole of the sidelight area light?

I thought when we first got the facelifted C5 estate that its whole eyebrow sections lit up evenly, now after changing bulbs its more like just the middle section. Ill have to check what mine is like on Friday.

If those LED bulbs light up better ill definitely be getting another set.

They can be a pain o change, but ive got it down to a fine art now, its done in seconds! Mind i do have the thinnest of arms and hands.

Steve, they wont really go in a S1s headlamp, they fit well in the facelifted headlamp, but possibly a bit too Audi as you say. Im tempted by those little LED bulbs though, longer lasting and brighter, as the originals are dull.

PaulR, Thanks. The ride on the facelifts is a little firmer actually, still comfortable but as handling is improved its what im after. Its a good compromise for me, between comfort and handling.

Alarming at first. I switched them off and the bulbs stayed lit. Took about three minutes for them to extinguish. Maybe not quite as bright as halogen, but since they are rarely on on their own, I don't mind. Being long lasting is more important.

I like these S1.5 C5's with C4 headlights, a much sorted model in general. Nice find Chris.. Sanata Claus gift?

Paul
Ive just been on the Citroen website, they list:

-S1 C5 is C5I
-Facelifted C5 is C5II
-'Germanic' C5 is C5III.

Makes sense I suppose

Ohhh, those LED replacement bulbs look good. My dad's C5 2 has an appetite for munching these blasted things. Unlike Chris, they're an absolute pain to change, I have to get my uncle to do them for me.

Better pics will follow on Friday, you know me and pictures!

According to my C5 brochures, this facelift is over 5 inches longer than the original S1 saloon! I knew it was longer, but not by that much. It has a longer and softer front for pedestrians, its also a 5 star crash rated car as opposed to the 4 star of the S1. The back looks a little longer too, but that might just be the styling.
Is that not a saloon?

I did that with an Accord. Assumed it was a hatch and only discovered it was a saloon when the girl at the insurance company told me :( It was parked outside my house by that time, too late to change my mind.

I thought they had stopped making cars with boots - impractical.

True!

It was advertised for £5890, I managed to get it down to £5325, they wouldn't budge any more than that. I think thats a pretty good price for the car, its a stunner.

:
Ye Gods that's good!

I paid £500 less for my 2007 56 plate 1.6 VTR and I thought that was a good deal. Mind you, it has a 12 month Citroën warranty with it, but it's done 46K.

The chrome trim looks nice though, doesn't it?

ps: just realised how cool it is the way this forum automatically adds the umlauts to the word Citroën!

...although it's not German so they're probably not umlauts.....??

Hopefully the trim might stand the test of time, and be better quality than that which was fitted to the Xantia.

Yes, but this was a few years ago now. Just assumed it would be a hatch.
couldn't get stuff like doors and washing machines in it.
