Text carries on appearing on the screen long after I have finished typing. I've likely checked part of the number as I can only remember 3 digits at a time, added a six or two and it has filled them in later.
Some oddness with the machine as it is showing CPU at 100% when it is doing next to nothing.
at least i can still count nine and a half digits at a time, well that is without taking me shoes and sock's off,
i did also with one of my digits google that part No. and amongst the listtings that came up was this one

Some other members have bought non-OEM units and had very disappointing results from them, including a very short life. I am tempted though.
Appreciate the time you took Malcolm.
The one fitted is a Bosch unit that IIRC is not much more expensive than a lot of the aftermarket ones.
I'm still dubious about it being the MAF. I suspect the EGR/sensor/solenoid and the boost sensor too.

Bought a MAF from the dealer - at long last, had to order it as they don't hold them in stock.
Ironically the car shot down there effortlessly with no Antipollution fault showing, whizzed along as though nothing was wrong.
Changed the MAF and found the old one much corroded and th 'flyscreen' has a lot of crap in it.
Rather more worrying was that the air filter was soaked - fairly new one, been on about four months. New one ordered.
I did also notice while I was out and about yesterday and today a slight noise a bit like an electronic screech but may be a pneumatic
Very faint but needs investigating.
Old MAF, apologies for crap photo's - it is sitting on the desk and they are just p&s shots.
Still haven't found what the code (P1637) was.

This I suspect is equivalent to the ABS/ESP warning that the 2.2 throws every time it gets a failure of the engine ECU. The logic on the 2.2 is that the ABS and ESP use computed torque data from the engine, when there is an engine ECU failure torque data is no longer valid so no longer gets put on the CAN bus. I suspect that the same logic applies to the 2.0Ltr.

I only have ABS, no ESP.
If I had ESP I might be able to perceive what ails the blighter
Perhaps it relates to the engine being stalled?
It will be back then as my daughter stalled it on Thursday when she went out for a practice drive.
It will be interesting to see how it performs tonight and tomorrow. Going shopping during the night when Asda is quiet and the smokers not blocking the entrance, need fuel to so late at night when the queue isnt half a mile long at the Shell station.
I am concerned about the damp in the filter (and all the sand & gravel)
Last time I changed the filter I drilled a small drain hole in the 'well' thing as it was full to overflowing with water, cleaned the muck and leaves out too. Now there is no water in the well but the filter was soaked.
It has to be the way the 'snorkel' intake hose reaches down into the lower wheel well - brilliant design there Citroen, about as clever as the 306 air filter under the front bumper!
I wonder if some coarse wire wool would discourage it or if relocating it higher would be a better proposition.
I think pulling the airbox out and removing the snorkel would be no worse than leaving it as it is. There was a small amount of water in the MAF housing, wouldn't want that sucking into the engine

Is that the side that a bit of your wheelarch liner broke off? That would certainly explain why the water's getting in.myglaren wrote:It has to be the way the 'snorkel' intake hose reaches down into the lower wheel well

Ran fine last night and for an hour or so this morning and then started hesitating a bit on acceleration.
Still miles better than before but clearly need to sort the wheel arch and air induction problem out.
Been out all day in it, buying a car with Annika then taking Laura to get her car and the roads were very wet following a fair bit of snow last night.
