I wonder how many Xantia 'sinkers' are left?

Had it washed on Sunday - it glows in the dark now.

For those who haven't seen it before, here's a link to Flickr

Done a lot of work on the front suspension, wishbones, drop links, bottom ball joints and strut tops. Start on the back end next

Lovely cars, quick enough, comfy and reasonable on fuel.

Looks stunning Dave, and I really like it in white too. Mine doesn't look too bad after a polish considering its 17 years old.

JUST to throw a spanner in the works! I have to announce, and always doo.. not all L reg Xantias with Chevrons on the bonnet are sinkers, so unless then are on the deck dont assume they are sinkers.

I have an L reg SX TD, ANTI SINKER... though a customer has an L reg SX TD which is a SINKER, which Ive been told Ill be offered first refusal when they come to sell. Ive never thought Of checking RP numbers actually.

Some years ago, my First xantia, a Black SX TD, also an L reg one was a Sinker though, L451MMX .... my current one, L291JJW (ooops, got my own plate on her now), the customers white sinker, L585GCK

That's a lovely looking sinker you have there Dave :D

I never believed your L reg was an anti-sink Paul, until I saw it with my own eyes...

Shes just like any other  but stays up over night.. LOL

What parts?

Shes a little scruffy on the outside, after a small light figt with a wall last ear, and scratch the drivers wing, door, and rear door...

Mine's a sinker too.

There are a lot of Xantias here in Spain that are the right age, my closest neighbour has one, but don't know how many are sinkers.

A 1998 Xantia WONT be a Sinker... They changed them to Anti aink in 1994..

Id be extreamilly surprised if a 1998 Xantia is a genuine sinker....

Erm...when I go out tomorrow morning she'll have sunk quite a bit, give it a couple of days and she'll be right down. Have a got a faulty anti-sink valve then? She raises up well and as she had 4 new spheres 6 months ago the ride's fantastic.

Anti-sink ones still sink, but they take longer than the old sinkers.
Stick her on high, and look under the back just infront of the spare wheel and you'll see a sphere in the middle, that's known as the anti-sink sphere so called because it was fitted to cars with anti-sink (it's actually a rear accumulator)
Chances are, if your corner spheres needed changing, then the other two (front and rear accumulators) need changing as well.

Oops! Ignore the newbie. Still at least I'm getting an education. I did notice the rear middle sphere, wasn't sure what it did. Sigh. Even looked in the haynes. Thanks!

We all learn new things on here every day so you're not alone :)
Garages often fail to change the accumulator spheres as they don't affect the ride quality, but they're just as important.
Likewise with changing the LHM completely every 36000 miles, and a hydroflush every 72000, although most of us do a hydroflush every 36000 anyway as it will do no harm and will help keep the hydraulic system clean.
