Some may say he's totally mad...

less to give grief on an older fully sorted model maybe? Does sound worrying
about the clutch mind, for the clip to give up and the pedal feeling heavy I'd
be budgeting for a replacement clutch - check out a decent priced one off eBay
to keep in stock ready for the day the inevitable happens?

Is your sinker a VSX perhaps?

Sorry I forgot to mention its a SX model. The clutch on the sinker doesn't feel too heavy, especially when comparing to the 1998/S reg I test drove, that was horrible!

A lovely looking sinker 8-)

Does it have a green parcel shelf? I seem to remember early SXs had a light interior and green parcel shelves?

Thank you, it still looks quite 'fresh' after a polish, in fact the bodywork is in better condition than my old T reg Xantia!! It's not perfect, but for a 17 year old beast it's doing well.

Plenty of little jobs still need doing, and the ABS light just came on today  so that will be added on to my nice long list

Do those rear wheels seem to be cambering in or is it just me?

I'd love a sinker

Well spotted! Yes they were, the rear arm bearings were squeaking badly,
However both have now been changed.

My Xantia is currently in the garage having some work done on it.

Just received an unwelcome phonecall stating its going to cost me £360 to get everything done.....ouch!

Thats more than the car is worth, however, having had so much work done on it in the last year, I can't just give up on it now.

Jobs i'm having done on it are as follows;

New thermostat, as it has not been reaching full running temp for a while.

New brake pads and discs.

The handbrake has not been holding the car very well on my driveway, and have been told the front brake caliper is past its best and needs replacing.

Oil leak; rocker cover gasket getting changed.

I will give an update when I get the car back (should be tomorrow)

I've totalled up the Xantia's bills since March 2010 which was when my friend got it and its come to £2,164.00!

This of course is labour charges as well (you'll see on my prevoius posts whats been done)

So in therory, my car should of been scrapped about a year ago

Does it ever end?
