Not had any joy at the scrappy for the breather pipes although some luck with the drivers seat lower cover,a complete new centre air vent section,4 door lock buttons and a Xantia owners handbook :D :D

Apart from a centre console window switch and the oil pipes etc ive now got everything inc pump o rings :) :)

Hi Paul

Its the window switch.Swapped it around with the other one and it does the same in that position, only allows the window to go down not up although the door switch works perfect so i know its the switch
If you do have one that would be great, just let me know how many beer tokens :)

Right i have updated the original thread with some pics in the for sale section but still need a question answered :) :)

I can get the central locking to work on the key,not had chance to sort the remote out yet   but i can only get the c/l to lock the car once, not double lock like my MK1 and MK2.If i turn the key in the lock and hold it in the "lock" position it locks but doesnt deadlock afterwards. Is this feature an addition to later MK1 Xantias or do they all have the double lock feature :? :?

Any advice greatly appreciated :)

On a lighter note the car does have abs as demonstrated by its abs block and the light on the dash which works correctly :hb: :hb:

Cheers

Its a feature of ALL...except the very base models with manual front windows..

My L reg 1994 SX TD has double locking... On Mk.1 fobs you press the first button to lock, then the second button to deadlock...

As you say, hold the key in the LOCK position in the lock to double lock.. there could be a faulty switch in the door lock, have you tried the passenger side, it should operate the same..

Hi Paul

Cant try the drivers side as the lock is inop   (work in progress)
passenger side only locks, not double lock. Not had chance yet to sort out key fob but guess that maybe a sticking drivers side lock will prevent the dead locking from passenger side [-o<

Everything else ordered from main stealers, aiming to get car ready to sell within next 10-14 days.Any joy with the few odds and ends in your vast spares shed

Just a quickish update on my progress.

Remote locking has now been restored along with the replacemant centre vent section and the window switch problem has now been solved(Paul PM sent)
The leaking HP pump and both cooler pipes have been replaced along with the regulator but i have now encountered a problem im unsure of how to fix
I have the steering column in pieces at present and i have found what i believe to be a direct feed to the interior blower from the ignition switch. As soon as the ignition is turned on(engine off) the blower is on although it seems to be very low and the slider works in all positions but will not actually turn off completely. The HRW and mirrors work but as this car has no A/C im unsure as to how the interior blower should work,is it the same as the A/C variety and am i looking at doing the proper relay mod

Have not yet sorted the deadlocking, still wont work even with the remote, does it only operate from the front locks and if so would a sticking lock / motor totally kill it :? :?

Early manual blowers DO work as soon as the ignition is switched on...

It does NOT need to have the engine running....

As for speed... the Blower Resiter Pack could be faulty...

This is located in the blower ducting, remove the trim under the dash, and you'll see a multi plug with 5 wires... this is the resister pack, remove the plug, and it twists to come out... it can be tight..

Hi Paul

Would you suspect that the fact the blower wont switch off is down to the resistor pack rather than any bodge with the power supply. The speed seems ok as you move the slider its just that its always on,albeit very slow, when the slider is set to off.

Right apart from a damm good clean i think the car is just about ready to go :)

Oh and the blower is still on low, cant turn it off but then i had forgotten about that until now

Are the resistor packs the same regardless of the A/C or not.Its just that i have a known good blower from an A/C Xantia and wondered if i could just swap the resistor packs over

No, sadly not Colin  They are totally and utterly different. The A/C regulator is an electronic job and the non-A/C is literally a stack of wirewound resistors.

I'd not worry about the blower always being on slow. There's no airflow at all without it and in an A/C car the blower is running all the time, albeit slowly.

As paul says, the normal failure mode for the resistor pack is to stop the blower totally at any speed as the common failing is the thermal fuse in the middle of the resistor stack getting tired and taking an early bath. Like Paul, I suspect a fundamental wiring fault rather than the resistor pack.

Still, hardly a showstopper. I can't imagine any prospective purchaser saying "Well, you know I'd have it in an instant but for that blower problem..."

In fact, I'll wager they won't even notice it
