More progress has been made, the engine was finished off after much faffing and ive nearly finished heavily re-building the engine management loom, this weekend the engine was cranked on its own starter for the first time in many years and apart from a bad earth due to my 99p shop jump leads it sounded fine.

The gearbox was stripped due to having some grit and muck in it after being stored for so long, given a good clean, new oil seals and a flushed through by turning the torque converter by hand while shifting through the gears, pumping the oil out, adding new oil and repeating untill clean red /dex2 was flowing.

Just finishing off some bits and bobs now so its ready for installation. The XM has its M.O.T booked as early as possible (21st March) to give a 13 month ticket, as soon as its had the M.O.T it will come straight home to start the engine removal process!.

Dean, I's sure it will run as sweet as a sweet thing :D

All the care and attention you've given it should make it the best PRV/HP18 on the planet I reckon ;)

your confidence is almost contagious Jim but then your not aware of the new pistons i made from old bean cans, Aldi beans too! :-D

MK1 XM headlamps for those whom may be even slightly interested are pictured above, they are clear lenses with a plastic freznel, sort of. The outer lamp that is the indicator on a Xantia is the XM's side lights.

Morette headlamps are actually what looks like an ABS body and seperate cover which you paint to match not a steel frame as i thought, funny what the passing of time does to the grey matter! instead of one side light, a dipped beam and a high beam as fitted standard the Morette setup gives one dipped beam projector and two main beam units per side with a sidelight bulb built into each main beam unit

As you know....that is interesting, clear dip side, flutes on main. So you could do the projector Hella lamp unit dip side without changing the lens (on a Mk1)

Nice to meet up today
