You could always slacken it a bit, I would assume when its stone cold (and cold outside ideally) the cable is fully taught.

Where the fast idle sits between the stops, adjust the cable end fitting so its nearer the 'released' side.

As it starts to expand the cable more or less straight away, this will cause it to release a bit quicker, albeit at a risk of a slow idle when cold.

Alternative: fit a Renault DCi one, be aware you will probably need to lengthen the cable and drill the fitting (the adjuster, the hollow threaded bolt) in the pump bracket.
