Yikes... not sure I’m brave enough to do that!!

I might fill the plastic manifold with it and then put some down the holes heading towards the cylinders to see if it makes a difference and then blow it out with the airline before i reassemble it all.

I’ve ordered a tool to clean/cut the injector seat and a tool to retrieve the copper washers from the injector seats. I think they’re all out but one injector had 2 washers on it which makes me wonder if they’re all out and I’d rather be safe then sorry.

Well, the 207 is reassembled and has been MOT'd. It failed yesterday on a broken coil spring and an oil leak from the engine.

The coil spring surprised me as the car was sitting perfectly level but it was the bottom coil that had snapped off. It's now had a new spring and a strut top which has apparently made the steering lighter according to Cheryl.

The oil leak fail didn't surprise me as I'd not had time to properly clean the remains off the block for the leak I had fixed from the top. The garage cleaned the oil off the block and put it in for a retest today and it's now passed.

I need to source an airbox for it as the clips are broken on this one which means that it's coming unclipped all the time. Other then that, Cheryl seems to be pretty chuffed with it.

Well, I've still had no luck selling the C5, I keep getting daft offers of £3k despite it being on eBay for nearly £5k. Just annoys me that people are that cheeky to offer. It's always nice to get something off but not almost half the asking price!

I've just had a promotion in work which means I'm no longer eligible for a van so I'm having to use one of the cars. After giving it a lot of thought and considering the C5 or the 407 Coupe, the 407 has won and I've decided it's that one I'm going to hang on to. There's less common faults on it and despite it having done double the mileage of the C5 it's given me far less grief in the 3 years we've had it.

I'm working in Peterborough for 4 days this week and I hate going away with a filthy car so last night I spent 3 hours giving it a good going over in the dark before I set off this morning. It's great washing and waxing a car in the dark as you instantly smile when you look at it the next morning :D

rear.jpg
I was in no rush to get down today and I had some good music on my iPod so I set the cruise control at 65mph from Glasgow all the way to Peterborough. The A66 was quiet so I was able to maintain a steady speed too. I reset the trip computer when I left Glasgow and the results upon arriving at the hotel are absolutely staggering for a 3.0 twin turbo diesel...

It averaged 65mpg over 344 miles...
mpg.jpg
There's a range of 525 miles still in the tank...
range.jpg
And out of a 67 litre tank it's used less then half a tank to get here...
gauge.jpg
I'm staggered tbh. I usually sit around 70 - 80 on a long run. High 40's are easily achievable but I'm gobsmacked today.

There are some cheeky buggers around - we all like a bargain but a friend of a friend was thrown out of a garage for offering £500 for a 3K Meriva after his Clio blew up ....

That 65 MPG =D> would take some beating.... my old AX 1.4D would match it any day ....but just on MPG

I hope the C5 finds the home it deserves David , the 407 is looking nice . Pick up some Sonax Brilliant Shine detailer and give it a a try after your next wash you will be amazed I promise you , available from Euro carparts for under £10 when they have a discount code . The Freelander is still going well I expect. I've got a Sd4 auto now as my last Td4 was written off by an idiot last year . Hope you enjoy the promotion.

Thanks Mark, I'll give it a try!

Yea, my folks still have the i6 HSE. Other then an appetite for petrol, it's been utterly perfect. My Dad regards it as one of the best cars he's ever had.

Me and the wife have a Fl2 each and we can't really see us changing for anything else , I do prefer the auto over the manual though as it really suits the car.

Pictures :) Everybody love pictures!

Here's some shots of the XM and the C5 (before it was collected by it's new owner) after a cleaning marathon on Sunday...

On the way to PD Gough this morning she ticked over onto a new milestone...

Here's some pictures of the exhaust that PD Gough did today. The had the car on the ramp for 7am and I drove away at 14:32.

The quality of the workmanship is superb, I found them to be very helpful and easy to deal with whilst there and I'm very happy with the overall fit and finish too. I'd use them again in a heartbeat and have already spoken to them about the exhaust for my V6 Xantia Activa.

Since 1am this morning when I left Glasgow she's covered 350 miles without batting an eyelid at it. She's done more in 1 day today then she did in the last 3 years!

They haven't lost their touch, by the looks of it. A very distinctive appearance, down to their choice of steels and matching welding matching welding materials.
Some great photos, David. Looks like you were well looked after.
How does it sound? After it has sooted up a bit, it should lose any signs of newness.

When I left Nottingham it was very quiet, I noticed a tiny bit of a burble when I got to my hotel in Tamworth tonight. It's by no means intrusive though. Like you say, with some carbon thrown in for good measure it should quieten down again.

That welding looks much better than I got from my local exhaust shop who modified new mid and rear boxes to suit my Activa

We've had a great weekend. The exhaust is behaving perfectly. It's very quiet and gives a nice burble when giving it some beans.

The XM got a lot of attention at the Citroen Centenary Event in Coombe Abbey. I even got one guy offering me £3k for it there and then!

Last night I left Coventry at 5pm, and at 21:30 I was parked at home having munched 328 miles effortlessly and only using half a tank of petrol.

Between the MOT in 2015 and last week the XM had covered 264 miles. Since Wednesday last week she has covered 780 miles effortlessly and without missing a beat. I've really fallen for my XM again this week. It's reminded me of what a special car the XM is. It's puts almost all of the modern cars I've driven to shame.
