Pulley Puller. which one?

Im after a pulley puller, however have little understanding of what it is and how to use it.

I have looked on ebay and found this

However i thought it was supposed be a tripos devece that hooked on like a gear puller? can anyone point me in the right direction of a cheap one?

It depends what you are trying to remove, and how it can be gripped, or whether you can get a puller plate behind it.

I bought an item 280422227169 last year to pull a bearing.

Is this for pulling an alternator pulley Dave?

And if so, is it a multi-vee pulley?

These can be a bit tricky. If it is a multi-vee user an old axillary belt wrapped around the pulley and pulled very tight and then use puller on the belt edges.

The kit you mentioned is a bit specialist for your needs. The one Mike offers in his post is an excellent all-round kit and will do the job a treat. I prefer the two legged one to a three legged one as they are more flexible in what they can pull. That kit has a set of flat bearing pullers too. Very useful

I'm sure we can give some pictorial guidance in it's use

Yes it is for the alternator pulley.
I have bought a new alternator which fits but needs the pulley changing, however the guy has emailed me and said he may be able to change it so i may not need one after all, however ill keep that one in mind mike (any tools recommended by jim get my vote lol).
