Clutch cable

Post by fdj12 »

Was taking my daughter to Coventry today and coming up to traffic lights, just going to change gear, foot on clutch......bang went straight to the floor, presume the clutch cable hasd gone, had to be towed back to Cardiff. Anybody any idea how long to repair and possibly the costs. When I had a look on the mat in drivers side found a piece of metal which should have had 2 identical ends, but, there was only one, which i presume is the snap that i heard.
Thanks..............Dave

Its the clutch clip not the cable I suspect assuming 1.8 petrol is the same as the diesel (anyone?). Lots of horror stories but I've just done the job. 90mins last night to tale it off, an hour tonight to put it back on. Clip cost 3.50 + vat. I did a search on this forum and found a method posted by Gaz involving cutting the head of the pivot bolt to get it out. Worked a treat. Only variation was to use the Haynes method to get the end of the clutch cable back into the clip rather than using long nosed pliers as described.
