If your looking for the best in 1/18 try Minichamps & Auto Art. The very best are Exoto and CMC but they don't do normal road cars.
Minichamps and Auto Art also do 1/43.
Norev are very good value for money but are mid market.
Now using '00 Xantia LX HDI, pov spec :(

Never really looked at French makes on Minichamps and Auto art before so just had a look.
Minichamps have quite a selection of Citroen , Renault & Peugeot, mainly in 1/43 but also in 1/18. They have a nice 1/18 2CV ,also Ami's , CX's , SM's in 1/43.
Auto Art have just Citroen and Peugeot rally cars.

Damnsight easier to collect and store than the real ones that'sa for sure.
I wouldn't say I've got 100's of models mind Chris - do you keep them
boxed or display them in cabinets - would take a lot of space even as
1:42 or are some 1:72? I'm quite model as well as marque specific so
there is a restrictive limit to some models being in high numbers.

the Minichamps are good although the latest Norev's are a match and
additionally are true to the actual car in accuracy. Sometimes Solido/Rio
etc are well out. Surprisingly Universal Hobbies China models are very
good too especially for the tiny prices off ebay.

Seems the Segem Xantia is actually a Minichamps model according to that
link I posted too!?

Norev were average but recently thay have become one of the best for the larger 1:18 scales, their recent models are excellent.

Ive got loads of Minichamps models, mostly non citroens but i do have some of the recent 1:43 Citroen models. We have the Ami 6 estate which is very nice, tw CX pallas - one black and one green, and a yellow SM and a CX hearse - all recent Minichamps.

I picked up a very nice Norev Xm at the national last year, think it must be a new model out or a recent one. Is great, ive only seen a few Xm models which looked odd, though this one is spot on.

I only ever buy them if they are near to or perfect to what they should look like, some models are very poor quality and shape.

IXO seems quite good, got a lovely Acadiane.

Citroens are very difficult to get right in scale. I wish CMC would do a DS and a Traction , unlikely though !

I've got a couple of Renault 4CVs in 1/18, and various others, but I've now changed direction to French cars only. There are a couple of nice Simcas on the market, the Chambord and Aronde, and Renault 8, Peugeot 203, 403 and 404 models, Panhard PL17, the list goes on.

ust sold my Citroen 2CVs and bought a Peugeot 203 cabriolet by Solido from eBay France. Unfortunately the vendor sent the wrong model but he'll get it right eventually.

Have a look at NEO models. Their 1/18 CX GTi is very good, but pricey. Lovely SAAB 96 as well, which I want.

Probable next model is the Solido Traction faux cabriolet. Very attractive in dark green. I'm in Paris next week so I'll have a look around.

Oh wow. I WANT that burgundy 1:18 scale Cx!! Excellent call there as
the detail and quality looks good! The rear bumper is too droopy end on
and the headlights look poor but every picture is the prototype so it may
change with the final purchase. The price is rude though, I've paid less
for a real one... :?

Looks like I found what I should have asked for this Christmas!
I'll have to get a big empty whisky bottle to stash my change otherwise.
The Saab is nice to, I do like these.

A rare sighting on ebay of a green 1:43 Xm by Norev here:

This what you got Chris? There is a silver version too.

I wish I hadn't seen this thread

It has planted a potentially expensive seed in my mind. Looking at some car and particularly aircraft models that I quite like the look of.

Aviation interests me also , but I can't become to engrossed as my other hobbies occupy enough time already !
My favourite bits of aviation are WW2 , early jets , modern specialised stuff like the Apache and black jets like the SR-71 & F-117.

Likewise, I'm into the WW2 stuff and the more modern military hardware. I also see the appeal of the Apache and the SR-71. The Vulcan is another of my particular favourites. Am also a fan of commercial aircraft, hence the interest in Concorde, Boeing to Airbus and anything in between, props included.

Yes , the V force bombers interest me too , due to my fascination with the cold war era.
Piston Aero engines are one of my big interests , totally fascinated by the scale and engineering they involve. I actually owned a 9 cylinder Wright Cyclone radial engine up until about 6 years ago , had to sell it due to lack of storage space though
Modern Civil aviation has passed me by really , but I do have an interest in Concorde.
One thing I would like to do is have a flight on a DC2 or preferably the C-41 military version. Might do that to the RIAT this year

have you been to Cosford. Yes, I'm into aircraft as well, mainly big piston engined stuff like Lockheed Constellation, Short Sunderland, anything by AVRO, that sort of thing.

You all must go to East Lincs Aviation, the only place in Britain, maybe in the world where you can stand under the wingtip of a Lancaster with all four Merlins running.

http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/

Air Atalanique Classic Flight is worth a visit too, last time I was there they had their DH4C with all engines running aand guided hanger tours.

Don't get me started on aircraft!!
