Having obviously bent the track rod, I suggested Alex also replace the rod end, given it's transmitted one hell of a bang and it's really a no-brainer and not expensive.

We will of course give the car a thorough 4-wheel alignment check but no need to pay someone to do it - just using a level bit of ground, two bits of string, a metal ruler, 4 axle stands and some patience.

Front toe can be adjusted using two bricks, two short straight bits of wood and a tape measure. All you need is a friend to hold the tape while you measure.

sorry i forgot the track rod end and track rod are one piece on the ZX,

it is all clear now, and i do agree with Richard on the proccess required,

i do only use the method i mentioned earier as a startting point before haveing the tracking checked with the corect equipment
