Dommo wrote: What does the Lexia check for? Is it the engine control unit or the suspension side of things? If you're happy to do that that'd be great, and it'd be nice to have an experienced set of eyes looking at the car with me. Thanks for the offer that's great.
It should check most things. The engine on mine has never shown a problem. The suspension logs sensor faults now and again - nothing unusual to an Activa really. My car (or my Lexia - not really sure which) won't communicate as regards the aircon. ABS, body computer, alarm all fine.

I'm not a mechanic myself, but I know what an Activa feels like. I'm even grinning now thinking about the first time I test-drove mine!

You should be able to tell me if it feels 'right' or not then. Going off what the bloke says it should feel right, it's just got a weeping seal on the ram, and a weep from the porous cover on one of the rear electrovalve boxes.

If you could PM me your phone number I'll give you a bell tomorrow if I do go ahead and view the car. Basically what's happening is I'm ringing him tomorrow when he's with the car, I'll ask questions and he can answer them, then if all sounds good I'll go up and view the car.

How far from him are you? He's based between jct 8 and 9 of the m65, place called hapton by the looks of things.

Cheers.

Well, I rang savoy garage this morning and was all set to go and view the car, then as I was about to set off I rang him again to let him know and he said don't set off yet, someone's here looking at the car now, call me back in 10 minutes, so I did, and the buyer didn't want it, so we went up and we've bought it 8)

Needs a new rear hydractive electrovalve block as it's leaking, and a new front ram. He's posting me an electrovalve block when he's got one off an XM he has, and I'm hoping there's a ram for sale on here somewhere, where should I ask??

And James I totally forgot to ring you back about the Lexia check, but it seemed ok on the journey home so fingers crossed it's ok..

Cheers, Dom.

Cheers :). Needs some rattles sorting out and the front ram, seems like a solid car underneath, no rust etc. I'm happy with it!

Excellent :D :D

A very warm welcome to Activa Ownership Dommo :D :D :D

We have a little sub-forum especially for Activa stuff in the members area

It will get worse, you'll be wanting a V6 next

So, million pound question: Is the CT engine going to be replaced with a 2.1TD or have you already fallen in love with the CT?

Dommo,

Forgot to say,

Rattles are more than likely caused by the rear ram bush throwing in the towel; a very common problem. Genuine ones cost the earth (over £100  ) but I can turn up a substitute for pennies. Do a search on "Activa Ram Bush" and you should find a few posts.

The front ram: check the leak is nothing more than a perished leakage return spigot on it. It's tricky but it can be repaired with care. Again, a search should drag up a number of posts on this topic.

Thanks jim. I used your buyers guide which was very useful! I assumedthe rattle at the back was the bush you mentioned. Is there a thread about the rear bush saying how to pay you and how much etc?

I'll have a look at the ram tomorrow if I'm not too ill after tonight :p

Cheers

No, just PM me your address and I'll make you one. I have another to do and I prefer to make 'em in batches.

Payment by way of a donation to the Forum Hosting Fund will be just perfect

Oh, and I'm not sure about 2.1'ing the activa yet, when fuel costs kill me I may reconsider it ;)

Cheers James, he did have a ram on the way but it's £400, I was wondering if I could get one from someone on here second hand but working. What's the likelihood of getting one?

Anyway I'll start a thread in the activa area now

Hmm unlikely i would say, though you might have a chance if one is up for breaking or if someone has a spare.

So they are £400 new from Citroen? Not as bad as i was expecting if thats so.

Nice to see your updated sig! 8) 306 Meridian, is that the one with the half leather interior? Very nice cars
