Intercoolers are IN FRONT of the Water Radiator NOT beside them as on the C5...

You'll see the intercooler outlets on EACH SIDE if the radiator if you peer in the bonnet..

One on the right (battery side) goes UNDER THE gearbox, sharter hose to the plastic conneter under the gearbox, the left one is a longer hose goes up to the inlet manifold NEXT to the main air intake...

I notice the OP has a Xantia HDI , those pix are of a C5 and thats quite a bit different in layout to a Xantia.
Some pix of a Xantia HDI 110 would be useful to me too as I need to identify some missing bits on mine.

BY THE WAY: You WILL and I MEAN WILL have to assemble the head AND TURBO OFF the car FIRST before fitting it to the block!!

Because theres absolutly NO WAY you can get to all the Manifold studs in situ! TRUST ME Ive TRIED and I failed!

Its heavy when all back back together but is possible to get the head on with manifolds in place...

Ive got a HDi engine out ofthe engine bay here.. but I CAN get access to a HDi engine IN PLACE... If it dry when I finish work, Ill goto my mums on way home and get some pics, she has a 110bhp Xantia..

MyGlaren's Pictures can give you a rough Idea, however, the TOP Intercooler hose, the one with the kink in it actually go to the LEFT over the engine and down the front to the inlet side of the intercooler, I noticed on that unit too, the EGR valve is in a DIFFERENT place to the xantia..

Oh joy !! I wish I hadn't read that !! I need to replace the oil temp / level sensor and I'm told the exhaust manifold has to come off to get the sensor out :? If the head has to come off I'm not doing the job !!

That would be a massive help , cheers !! :D
The guy that told me off the problem said it is a long sensor and it is obstructed by the manifold before it can be pulled free. Fingers crossed he's mistaken then !

I've just taken a few in the pouring rain and got caught by the Mrs returning from shopping who shouted "Saddo" at me standing there in the pouring rain taking pictures whilst trying to hold an umberella

Bear in mind that I've cut and blocked off the EGR valve vacuum hose.

Dude thats fantastic , just what I've been after :D Shows me that I'm missing LOADS of pipe supports and brackets , the front engine cover and most significantly the pipe holders on the hydraulic pump !!! That complete bolt and all the spacers is just not there on mine !! Proves my suspicion that mine has had an engine change and the muppets that did it just left stuff off when they couldn't work out where it went !

I owe you a pint sometime :)

Make sure you have provision for the VERY FRONT cover, this cover didn't come along untill VERY LATE W 1999 reg plate till Y reg..

Another noted thing this, as I have a customer with a W reg 1999 HDi 110, and it DOES NOT have the front cover, nor the brackets, and the cover for the ECU's is intrigated into it aswell, and a friends W reg 1999 Xantia HAS got it.. another run out addition..

DickieG - you beat me to it! Saves me a job fumbling in the dark I guess..

Well mines a T plate and as you mention it doesn't have that triangular bracket mounted by the radiator , I was assuming the muppets had left it off ? Also , the ECU has it's own cover.

Its only LATE W 2000 to 2001 Y models that had the front cover..

MADE A SMALL MISTYPE - NOT W 1999 model, but W 2000 MODEL YEAR.

However, if you can get the triangluar fixing point and the slightly modified battery tray and the cover, I cant see why it cant be retro fitted..

The excellent thing is that one of the intercooler pipes is out of the way as it goes UNDER the engine/gearbox rather then over the engine..

cant say thanks enough chaps, the pictures have helped me a lot :D

Hopefully get the rest built up this weekend without too much hassle...cant believe how tight it is at the rear with the turbo and such,

I've came from having a mk4 golf gti and the turbo was tight at the rear but no where near this i must say.

The timing belt is giving me a little worry, as with any timing belt really. but the fact it seems to rely on a lot with the correct tension. i know the nearly 90degrees under moderate pressure on the longest run trick from work.

So thats where its set at the now, fingers crossed
