Thanks Sid.
I am sure I have seen the AF one as I think I'd feature in it a bit as well.
It certainly was one of Alan's pet topics.
It's been a year since his premature departure too and it was acknowledged here on AF the other day too with him being remembered quite fondly.

I got/get mine from this outfit down in Somerset. It's certainly cheaper to buy in 20L drums.

They're very good and helpful and also a supplier of 4HP20 spares. Strictly they're trade only but if you call and make it clear you know what you're talking about, they'll be content.

Id give it a few miles between partial changes, I left about 500~1000 between the 3 partial changes I did this year, gives a chance for the new oil to get all around the system, otherwise you might just end up draining the new oil out again if changed to soon.

You could try a GM or Saab as they recommended it too.
I used to buy a few Saab parts from Elk spares I think it was, very competitive pricewise for me down here anyway.

Sorry, it's Elkparts.
They are in Wolverhampton. Sorry, no idea how far from you that is.

Don't think its either of those, I know at work I've a BMW part number for the oil, however I doubt it would be cheaper from them.
Seems Saab also used the 4HP18 box, but I can't find any literature to indicate they ever used the 4HP20, this is the best sheet I've found so far.

Me being the paranoid type would not buy unless I was 100% sure of the correct oil, I know the one Jim bought (20 liters) is the correct stuff, as is the cit part number posted.
