help! rear suspension stuck on highest setting

I put plenty of grease in the cups and on the balls before re-assembly. You may find (as I have in the past) that it's not just wear of the cups, but corrosion/rusting of the balls, which makes for not such a tight fit. My Xantia's ball on the anti-roll bar part was quite rusted, and the cup can be pressed on with a good thumb press - not ideal, but given no problems to date.

I brush old waste engine oil over various underside bits at back end of car, in particular the height corrector, the plastic link connector, hydraulic pipes, & wherever I see encroaching rust. Do it every 6-12 months, but apply sparingly, as it can make bit of mess if drips on to hard standing/drive
