However is it not the case that if the car fails its technically without an MOT as it is classed as unroadworthy?

Its a rumor I've heard but have not bothered looking into it ...

Nope, if it fails then the old MOT is still valid till it expires.

There's a disclaimed somewhere that says an MOT does not indicate roadworthiness of a vehicle lol!

And therefore technically if the car fails and you carry on driving it despite the MOT still being current you are committing an offence of driving an unroadworthy vehicle and can be done for it if the boys in blue are feeling particularly zealous...

So it is 6 of one, and half a dozen of the other. I think it would depend on the current attitude of the boys in blue. Catch one in a bad mood and you might have your collar felt, catch him in a good mood and you could receive a "be on your way".

Item 2 in the "About this document" section of the MOT; A test certificate relates only to the condition of the components examined at the time of test. It does not confirm the vehicle will remain roadworthy for the validity of the certificate.

Gracie is booked in for her MOT this Saturday.

Managed to get the Lexia on the car and found that it's the Wheel Travel Sensor that's gone, apparently these are generic between C5 and C6 so hopeful I can get one today and get it fitted.

The values gave it away the other 3 were in the 60% range the Knack......... err broken one was at 11%

Steve, if you haven't noticed, I found the link to sensor fault on a C5, and I posted that link in the last entry of the previous page.

It might be worth opening it up and having a look inside first.

That would be surprising, as (looking at the photos) there are only 3 pins, and the connector looks keyed. However, if you look at the point where the connector goes into the board, it looks like a low level of solder has been used (i.e. none!).

Ok so it not the bone in the wrong position, If I have it in the high position the suspension goes into middle high, if I have it in the low position then the front doesn't raise. I'm loath to start stripping it down as I need the car. I'll hang on until Wednesday. Before I do it, knowing my luck, if I don't I'll end up with no car.

Well, it's not the sensor either, new one arrived the other day which I fitted, and still the same. So I was scratching my head.....

I rang Paul (CitroenXM) about another matter, and during the course of the conversation, Paul wondered :-k if the bracket that holds the sensor had been moved :?: not even having thought of this #-o I'm off out this morning to have a play, I don't have a set of ramp, however, a phone call to my 'old fella' soon remedied that and they are sat on the drive as we speak. This of course means the first job is to put the kettle on.............

In other news, there could soon be an addition to the fleet, and no, it's not the ZX, I can't seem to pin the lad down with that, so I have my eye on something with a 'little' more oomph........... and no, I'm not saying yet, before you all ask :!: all I will say is that the vehicle has the seal of approval from the Bank Manager (read SWMBO). =D>
