wow, i suppose obviously they would be looked after in their home country but nice anyway to see so many classics being looked after

also pleased to see lots of activas about over there, i've been afraid to get one here because the ones i spot have the leaks at the activa hydraulic bit, don't know how many we actually got over here.
the ones there look mint , i would probably import one and enjoy having choice of engines.

From a posting a while back on this forum a contributor called "194bhp" said
Citroen UK imported 434 S1 AND S2 V6 Exclusives and there were 990 S1
Activas and 234 S2 Activas that crossed the channel.

So

434 V6 s1 & s2
1224 Activae s1 & s2

in RHD.

Over the years I've actually arrived at the opinion that the French can't be
bothered with old cars and the newest fastest model is the only one any are
bothered with; considering their amazing history it seems odd.

hmm should be reasonable odds of finding a good activa s1 then, better than a good v6, suppose v6's don't often get thrashed though

i wonder if they will put activa in something like a c5

Considering C5's now come with conventional springs and shocks unless you stump up for something "top of the range", I doubt it will ever happen

Im eagerly awaiting more news on the DS5 :D Thats bound to have this new magnetic suspension, I haven't read anywhere that sets in stone that the DS3 comes with hydraulic/magnetic suspension yet. Im sure the DS Inside concept did though.

Thanks for your comments, ill get a few more posted up shortly :D

Its a lovely area where we were, in the Dordogne, fantastic countryside and there is so much to see and do.

Actually i was under the opposite impression Andrew. Its doesn't appear they have the need for a new car every week as people do in this country. Im under the impression that a large majority of people in this country could not car less about what car they have (most cars on the road are bland shoeboxes with no defining features) so long as it has an up to date number on its registration.

I always get the opposite view in France, there are a lot more older cars than newer. People seem to keep the older ones going for longer rather than sell them on in 2 years for a brand new model. That i think is why so many models that have pretty much gone over here are still in very good condition and daily use over there. Mind, everything over there is better looked after than here in the UK. I much prefer their way of life.

Anyway, ill get on with these pictures then .... :D

You know, you're very lucky he missed you when you were standing in his
way taking his picture...

Best aspect of a D for me - i looks elegant futuristic and evil all in one go!

Adam; if we send you some Activas can you send some D's back by return?

Lovely pics, thanks Chris. There seems to be a marked lack of XMs over there, until you get to Rennes, their birth place, we saw several on the ring road but very rarely do you see an estate. Lots of Xantia and quite a few BXs though.

Exactly what i thought Peter, very few until we got to the area we were staying in and then we saw quite a few. Although only 2 estates i think, most of the hatchbacks were S1 cars too. Still i think i saw about 20-25 on the holiday, so thats quite a few.

Lots of Xantias and Bxs yes, i even saw a couple of S1 Bx cars too. Again though, not many of either were estates.

The Ds were taken just outside of the village Le Bugue in the Dordogne area. Just as you often see parked cars which had been there years. They were actually very rust free, although the heat is the worst thing over there, it scortches the paint and ruins the interiors.

Just uploading a few more pics.

It's a different world really seeing that garage and those D's.

Over here anything that's literally stood for longer than a day or two will
either have had an attempted break in, a few extra dents and scratches
or been deliberately rammed or set alight if it hadn't already been stolen. :x

Thats another very good point, nothing is touched over there. The cars are left for years but never messed with, parts stolen or anything like that. Totally different way of life.

Even simple things like over there if you want to stop driving and have a snack of food on a country road you can, there are places to pull off, open fields and no fneces. Over here your lucky to find anywhere like that. No litter anywhere, a lot of people seem to leave their cars unlocked or even leave the keys inside. Ours cars wouldnt last one minute if unlocked.

Makes me think why anyone lives here

This was rather interesting, the transporter bridge is about 10 miles from my house and i use it quite often. However i did know there was another one the same size, but did not know about this smaller version. This one is no longer in use by cars:
