A convoy of Xantias with darkened windows roll down the street, masked figures leap out armed with water pistols full of LHM..

I hope to make this event too, it was a very good turnout last year.
Although i confess i only went for the Saturday last year, i snook off to a VW show in Northampton on the Sunday
Its usually a bit of a Visa gathering at Stratford, so we might come in the van, although im unsure yet, might bring two cars again.

Whitewalls are very "Marmite" either people like them or hate them. Personally i like them dependant on what car they are fitted on. The passat always got positive comments. The best ones were from the VW dealer showrooms when i popped in for parts
There are 2 practical options on whitewalls. 1 is to get them professionally banded (painted on a machine with rubber compund). This is very specific though, the tyres have to be in good condition and ideally never painted with silicone tyre laquer (tyre shine etc)...cost is around £60 for all 4 tyres.
The other option which is cheaper but has its own frustrations is to fit whitewall tyre trims. These are around £45 a set of 4 and can be fitted DIY in around 10 mins a tyre (I became an expert at this) BUT....they dont like high speeds or kerbs. Also after time they crack and split off, but on the whole they are a good option.....As you can see i ran my Passat on these trims for a couple of years, and that was commuting on motorways and everything
Ive already mocked up the Xantia for whitewalls and in my opinion the only ones the body style will suit are the narrow band whitewalls, the ones with an inch wide strip around the tyre instead of the full whitewall.
Also dont ever bother with whitewall tyre paint. Its crap and comes off ruining your tyres in the process....

A very good event, thought while i was down there id go to it. Last year i still had my Seat, so that was parked on the forum stand.
Ive only been the last two years, so i was not there in 2006, although i do like your whitewalls 8) One of my favourite shape of passats that too.
Just found out about a family christening on the same weekend as the CCC stratford event, i know where i would rather be Hopefully i can get out of that and still come along. Probably have to find somewhere to stay in stratford again, might be a bit of a long day otherwise.
Chris.

i've had thin white stripe on another car, thats what i wanted they look better, also need the wheels for it. i didn't realise they were tyre trims, they look really good, might try those out and take them off when i'm going tracking or whatever
Love my black v6 xant - only one with cream coloured leather too!
