Just tying the thread back into another one on Hydractive etc...

Can the cracked Lexiae encode a new suspension ECU - or recode a used one?

SCUK - I, too, would love to see what exact dexcriptions you used to get the good bits all there.

Thanks, Adam.

Yes it's the standard PSA 30 pin rectangular socket/plug.

Hydractive ECU's can only be coded once, what may be of interest to you is that the ecu memory retains any recorded faults so if you wanted to post your ecu to me/Jim etc over here we could read then clear any recorded faults and post it back to you "as new".

I've bought a Hydractive box (for the estate) off a crashed '98 sedan - assuming it hasn't been swapped. Both donor and recipient are 16V/AL4 cars. Honestly, I thought pretty much all "write once only" type stuff was these days able to be reset and overwritten.

I don't know of anyone in Sydney who has a Lexia clone (unless they are keeping their cards tight) - even the club only has an early ELIT which nobody understands much. From that POV it would be a good "investment". The last AL4 oil change/reset was $182 (approx £95), so I could save nearly half of this with my own diagnostic tool.

I hope that the donor and receipient car are of the same shape as in both being either series 1 or series 2 Xantia's as they the Hydractive ECU's are not interchangable between the two series.

An ELIT will work perfectly well on Hydractive ECU's unless it's memory card is dated prior to 94 ish, my ELIT does all that a Lexia will do including on Activa's.

As a second thought are you still persuing your idea of fitting Activa suspension to your Xantia? If so then just as a reminder, Activa ECU's are different from normal Hydractive ECU's, the easy way to tell them apart is that an Activa one has a green coloured socket in place of the black one.

Yes, DG, I am. Both donor and recipient are S2; mine is about six months younger.

However the Hydractive fitment seems to be a logical starting point both in terms of access requirements and work times, plus the ability to get a "feel" for problems and repairs. In itself, the installation should be a ride improver.

How would that be done?

Even assuming that you can provide 12v to the right area to power it up surely it will be missing all of its sensors and probes and will immediately fill itself up with error codes!

We'd just pop it into one of our cars Paul and test/clear it from there...

That makes sense.

Best make sure that all the test cars have no faults then, eh?

Wouldn't really matter if all the codes are cleared then the ECU removed.

Wouldn't it be great to have a human connector on these Lexia copies? Then we could erase all our faults.

Wait until you're stuck in soft mode. Then you'll be searching for that Lexia cable...
